(1,418 posts)is not what 90% of so called "christians" in the U.S. practice... they practice
what I call selective christianity, selective morality-- defined by/based on their specific personal
needs and agenda.
In other words; they are massive hypocrites... just like many corporations.
That 90% you speak of have been taught a narrow, hyper-individualistic and nationalistic viewpoint that teaches them to be obsessed with sexual immorality and to believe in the blessings of "prosperity theology". The teachings and inclusive worldview of Jesus, who is presented merely as a "fire insurance" provider against eternal hell, have been marginalized and ignored by a majority of churches and all televangelists.
very well said, We People... much better than I could.
The Christians I respect: The ones simply doing what Jesus taught: feeding the hungry in church and
community kitchens.. getting them shelter at church or community shelters. these Christians aren't out there railing against
abortion, or cramming their morality down the throats of those who aren't listening anyway.
Generally we don't know or hear from these Christians.. they are truly doing God's work.
"Prosperity theology" is just a load of crap-- the notion "God wants us ALL to be Millionaires".. huh? are these
Christian millionaires helping the poor? not likely.
