Riley Williams, the alleged US Capitol Insurrectionist who's accused of stealing a computer from Nancy Pelosi's office, returns to DC court on May 28.
A judge agreed to allow Williams and her dad to travel to N. Carolina last week to visit a sick relative.
She's not in jail

(14,693 posts)But apparently it was just a utility computer in a conference room. Nothing significant on it, and it was likely encrypted anyway.
Hopefully they know what she did with it and can produce evidence at trial. But I don't think she has been charged for it specifically.

(19,021 posts)She stole a secure laptop and tried to sell it to the Russians, she should be facing espionage charges and be imprisoned for decades. I cannot believe the judge doesn't seem to be taking her as a serious threat to our national security.
Some judges are just treating this like they were playing a high school prank, I don't get it.
