Still ticking away the days until the governor allows my age group to get vaccinated. Watching countless appointments I could have made, go by. Hearing reports of parts of the state sitting on endless supply no one wants. Seeing people younger than you by decades get vaccinated in other states. Seeing counties around you open up their age limits but having no means to take advantage of it. At least in another week I can move on to the joy of being able to look and not finding appointments... Meanwhile watching the date the governor will open the state fully if your vaccinated or not come ever closer.
Just another day in vaccine purgatory for me.

(21,596 posts)as far as I can tell.
Kemp opened vaccination up to all adults when he lifted all pandemic restrictions on businesses (Yikes!) its really hit and miss. They need mobile clinics to go to rural and urban areas where people dont have access to computers and cell phones.
Georgia is the biggest state, geographically, east of the Mississippi river. We have a diverse population spread among rural, suburban, and urban areas from the mountains to the Piedmont to the coastal plain. Then, you have the problem of the white evangelical GOP men who are vaccine hesitant.
I got my vaccinations through the University System of Georgia when my age group opened up back in mid March. My partner got his in a nearby rural county mass vaccination site run by the County EMS. Other people are going to the health department sites or local pharmacies. I was lucky to get mine so easily.
It seems like it wasnt a problem for well off, white elderly folks to get theirs early on in the process. Kemp fucked around and just recently allowed all teachers and school staff to be vaccinated.
Between the former guys total lack of planning, the drawn out senate election runoffs, the former guys attempt to steal the Georgia election, the delayed presidential transition, and and the Capitol insurrection, no one was planning a vaccine rollout.
Kemp and the GOP lead state government were not working with Democratic cities like Atlanta, Athens, Augusta, and Savannah among many others.

(12,904 posts)Missouri. My daughter went online this morning and scheduled our appointments in about 5 minutes. My vaccine site is just a few miles away.
We also waited forever, but so far, the signups for all seem to be going smoothly.
Hope your experience is similar.

(14,853 posts)... now, except for California and a few others.
California won't open up vaccines to all people aged 16 and up until April 15th, from what I read.
EDIT:
After searching through this website, it looks like the latest date for anyone ages 16 and up is April 19th for various states. So California will be sooner than some states.

(33,284 posts)I'll be eligible 4/19 (moved up from 5/1). Today, I'm only qualified if you say Architects are "In Construction" - that's a stretch.
But, as you note, doses are going unused all over the state because eligible idiots in rural WA aren't signing up.
So fuck it. If they're not going to use it, I will. I want to travel. I want to see my 84 year old Father.
