1. You're just trying to make us feel bad in the U.S. because there are more intelligent people

in Sweden.

4. Ah, the people that my grandmother descended from are very sensible.

Wish that were true of idiot Americans.

5. That's because Swedes are passionless conformists :sarcasm:

They all stay inside in the winter

6. See what's possible when people don't politicize a pandemic?

People help each other to not get sick and die.

Amazing.

Ironically, shortly before COVID broke out, I had been reading about the devastation the plague had wrought on the Scandinavian countries. Whole areas remained unpopulated for around 1000 years before people could coax themselves to reoccupy them. It was profound and it looks like a lesson was learned.

11. There was quite a bit of idiocy in Sweden's pandemic response.

I'm glad they're at least being sensible about vaccines.

7. Wow.

So there's an almost universal sense of personal responsibility for the public's health and welfare in Scandinavia? How did that happen?

8. Too bad the European rollout has been so embarrassingly shitty.

They’re in for a long wait.

9. They botched the pre-buys, plus the EU blocked individual nations from buying on their own

it's been a clusterfuck (hardly surprising for Brussels). We here in Sweden at least do not have the massive vax hesitancy a shedload of other EU nations have, like France.

10. Meanwhile in California we're seeing vaccination centers expanding eligibility early

in hopes of using idle vaccine as they're running out of willing patients in certain parts of the state. We're only at 43% of the eligible population vaccinated. Not the best sign.
