2. If you asked Kevin Williamson (the author of this drivel) you "don't deserve it"

Why? Apparently because you don't share his smug worldview.

And voting? Fuhgedaboutit!

4. Hey, and why not charge a fee that had to be paid before you could register to vote?

5. Fewer, but better, voters?

I have an idea, just let the people on DU vote. I think we're pretty well informed. That should make us better than the average voter. We can do all the voting for everyone else.
I can't see how the national review can have a problem with that.
Oh, wait a minute, they want to make their people the fewer, and supposedly better, voters.

The fact is, it's impossible to determine who a better voter is. It's all a matter of your viewpoint. So, to insure we get all the better voters, we'll have to include all the people who could possibly be in the better voters column.
And that is going to require we let all the people vote, because we otherwise won't know if we have them all. Time will then tell who the really better voters are.
It could easily be argued that the current mess is a result of not enough of the betters being able to vote. At least if every adult citizen votes then we will have a result that truly reflects the will of the people.

Perhaps the better voters are each and every adult citizen of the United States of America.
I think that covers it.

7. Why not just abolish the 13th, 14th and 19th Amendments, Mr. Williamson?

That way only white male landowners could vote.

A little simplistic, Williamson. Can’t think of any other groups that may have had, some going back to the 50’s that may have had a role...?

They've always though things should be run by a small ruling elite, and everyone else should know their place.

They've always been a mirror image of Bill Buckley: authoritarian, hopelessly elitist and drunk with conceit (among other libations).

Though at least Buckley never lost his sense of humor; Lowry's a braying hack.
