So... I caught the Rona

Real bummer. Had been really careful but it caught up to me. We have been running a small crew in the office of about 6 in a space built for 25. It had been successful for a year but somebody brought it in last week and boom, Iím sick

The frustrating thing is that I had just gotten my first shot three days before. I was so close. I am hoping the shot gives me a minor boost to fight it off better though.

So far it has been just like a moderate cold so I am hopeful.

Hang in there people and continue to be careful

May your symptoms stay mild!

That said...Iíve lost several friends. I truly believe the vast majority of them would have had a much better outcome had they (in their situation) sought medical help sooner than they did.

So, Iím not trying to scare you, but I hope to impress upon you to watch yourself carefully. If things turn negatively, please please please donít hesitate to seek treatment.

Hereís hoping I just typed that all for nothing and youíre going to sail through this!!!

33. Thank you for your concern

I too had several associates my age or younger pass away. I can't speak to how timely they were in seeking help but it does make me extra diligent. I am not taking anything for granted.

I have a pulse oximeter and tracking my blood oxygenation regularly. So far so good.

14. You beat me to it

Rachel Maddow has been making a really strong case for the use of monoclonal antibody infusion if you know you've got coronavirus.

BUT YOU MUST GET IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!

Don't wait, it's most effective if you infuse before you get into bad shape.

17. THIS! Our DIL didn't and months later she's still hoping her

senses of taste and smell will come back completely and to normal. They aren't gone but weakened and distorted so that she needs dishes to be strongly spiced to enjoy actual flavors and some things she's always liked now don't taste good.

People who had seemingly mild cases are also suffering more serious long-haul symptoms, of course.

so fortunate this treatment is available to people in their first 10 days of symptoms.

Take care.

30. My provider sent me a home COVID-19 test

The info said if I have symptoms to take the test. If I'm positive they have a number to call and will arrange the infusion. They also included three KN95 masks. This was from my UHS Medicare Advantage plan. I received this without asking, so maybe some plans would respond this way if asked.

16. HOping for a speedy recovery...

Perhaps the shot will help you get through it easier. Do report your condition to the CDC also, they may be interested in your case since it is close to your first vaccination shot.

There should be a link to the monitoring site in the paperwork issued when you got your shot. I'm sure there's probably a link to it on the CDC homepage too.

19. Start to take an 81 baby aspirin if you are not already taking one

Also 1000 mg of vitamin D. I was really tired, slept 15/16 hours a day when I had Covid. I let my fever run and only drank water and gator aid did not take Tylenol or Advil, my fever got as high as 103.1 at night. Lower in the daytime hours but it would start back up around 10pm. I took my temp and o2 three times a day, at closet to the same time each day and kept a journal of everything. When I ate, slept, temp, O2, chills, shakes, aches.

I hope this remains a mild case for you.

59. lots of fluid and rest

My fever would spike each night for a week I drank a gator aid each evening and as much water as i could humanly hold. Had the chills and would sweat through at least one set of sheets a night. First couple nights 103.1 the next couple 100.5ish then just under 100 for a couple and i was tired. Slept all the time. Mask Up, Wash, stay out of crowds, play the odds and get vaccinated as soon as you can. I was exposed to covid at work, have to pay the bills and had no other choice. Even using best practices, it caught me. The vaccine is a game changer but stay as safe as possible until then.

I'm on a long time music site and I know that DU started around the time this site did.
It's funny how DU has many of the same emojis that were popular at the time that the music site uses!
Been only on here 10 months, but the other site like 17 or so years.

Anyway I've always loved the emoji.

This site has some the other site doesn't have and visa versa. As a Visual Artist I love them.

56. I searched for infusion centers covid monoclonal Florida . . .

I know this treatment is recommended for anyone with mild covid symptoms within the first few days. You may want to ask your doctor for a referral. As you can see below, Adventhealth in FL administers this treatment and I'm sure if you did a search you would find an infusion center that does this that is in your area. I believe the treatment may be free and it is supposed to be the best thing to avoid serious illness.

Here is an HHS website showing where this treatment is offered:

https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2021/01/11/hhs-launches-web-based-locator-for-covid-19-outpatient-treatment-sites-for-monoclonal-antibodies.html

60. Well that sucks

I'm so sorry. The good news is that you've gotten at least one of the shots. My understanding of the vaccines is that they won't necessarily prevent you from getting Covid in all cases but could lessen the severity of the illness. (If that's wrong please correct me) I would still closely monitor your symptoms, check your oxygen levels, and do the v-safe check ins like others have suggested. Sending healing vibes and virtual hugs your way. I hope you feel better soon.

65. keep and eye out for the next week

The turning point is 10-11 days, so be careful about that much time after you think you caught it or first showed symptoms. Be very aware of any worsening at that time point.
I advise getting a blood oxygen meter and check that and your temp several times a day.

Melatonin can reduce the inflammation cascade and stimulates t-cell replication. Sublingual or under tongue form best for getting it into your body.

Avoid the Sambucus, elderberry extract which is good vs flu, it can give this an easier way in by upping the ace2 pathway.
Take care, at least you're not fighting this a year or more ago.

people need to wear better masks than surgical or thin cloth. They should be wearing N95, KN95, or K94 masks.
