We're in Washington DC

staying with son/DIL. Son drove us to the Mall to see the cherry blossoms. We drove right past the Capitol. Tidal Pool area was very crowded, we couldn't find parking so we went to T Roosevelt's island memorial. While there, an obviously official helicopter flew overhead.

We drove home another route, one hour after the latest murderous attack on the Capitol.

My heart breaks for the latest casualty.

It was just a few years ago we could wander the halls of Congress. Didn't even need a tour group.

Now it's a war zone, complete with solders on the triggers of machine guns watching us, and a monthly bodycount.
