I can only speculate like the rest of you but it would not surprise me if this was a DC local, maybe someone with mental issues, who picked the capitol not as a political move but a practical one as it's fiercely guarded. Maybe hoping to get shot.

Either way, I hope he's the only one dead and the officers live.

It’s strange because it looks partially open. I will tell you that there is a holy tree and we saw a security standing underneath it with what looked like an automatic rifle basically in a sling. He was just standing under the tree. I guess that’s a guard spot.
