Paris doctors warn of catastrophic overload of virus cases
PARIS >> Critical care doctors in Paris say surging coronavirus infections could soon overwhelm their ability to care for the sick in the French capital’s hospitals, possibly forcing them to choose which patients they have the resources to save.
The sobering warnings were delivered today in newspaper opinions signed by dozens of Paris-region doctors. They came as French President Emmanuel Macron has been vigorously defending his decision not to completely lockdown France again as he did last year. Since January, Macron’s government has instead imposed a nationwide overnight curfew and followed that with a grab-bag of other restrictions. But with infections soaring and hospitals increasingly running short of intensive-care beds, doctors have been stepping up the pressure for a full French lockdown. 1. Please
Dear Lord- help France with their cases and help get vaccines to the French people, and the people of every country in Europe. Help the vaccine makers create more, and distribute to save lives.

9. Sorry to hear it, and okay. One way and another as needed.
You'll handle it if there are any bureaucratic glitches.
Our experiences at the site are still that they're making a basic effort to identify those who qualify and are scheduled, or whatever, but that the philosophy was and is to vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate. We hadn't been contacted yet for our second and just showed up to see if the FL state health department vaccination site was up and get information. It was -- for second doses only. All they wanted to put us in the car line was documentation that we'd had our first and it was time for the second. Then in our case they didn't bother to look at it, didn't check ID, didn't bother to see if we were resident in FL or that county, etc. Age qualification unfortunately is obvious, but you can see what I mean. They want to vaccinate. Hope it goes quick and easy. The one-dose J&J vaccine sounds like it would be desirable, but whatever. ![]() |

17. We hope so, too
We had plans to visit the Netherlands for the last week of March/first week of April in 2020. Obviously, that trip didn't happen but the airline and hotel have held our reservations until the end of 2021. We hope to be able to travel there before the end of the year.

7. Here in Germany? I wish!!
No way until late August at the earliest, and even then if we're lucky. We are hoping to travel the the USA at the end of next week, and with luck get vaccinated there. We're concerned they'll take me but not my wife, as she is not a US citizen and doesn't have a US residence, but she does have a US Social Security number, and we will have a copy of our marriage certificate with us, so maybe that will be enough to get her vaccinated if she is with me.

10. Your best bet will be a drive-thru site.
Pharmacies want your insurance and drivers license info, or at least Walgreens does.

14. Each state and even counties in some cases are left on their own
to decide how to distribute the vaccinations. Might be the local pharmacies or health department or a local doctor that has managed to snag some, but here in TN, the only medical practice I know of that has any has been Vanderbilt, and they probably only got the Pfizer vaccine because they helped develop it. Ask the locals. Good luck in your chase!

15. That won't do me any good here, unfortunately
The locals have no say in the matter. Here it's the Bundesländer that set the tune, and we all have to dance by it. Back in the States, by the way, it's the CDC. Here, it's the RKI.

16. Right!
I was explaining the US, and how you might be able to find a vaccine while here. I'm sorry it's really scarce where you are at in Germany.
