My second Pfizer vaccine today

I had it in the afternoon. So far I am having the same reaction as I had for the first, maybe a bit worse. Sore arm, myalgia, general fatigue and ick. The arm is a bit worse. I will see how tomorrow goes. I had a terrible period leading up to it where bg was very high for hours so that could be affecting my reaction as well. I had to inject, change out my pump cartridge and inset and increase basal rate to 200% when I got back as bg had spiked again after seeming like it would finally drop. I have no fever so far although it went to one point past normal which is high for me.

Overall I am relieved to be fully vaccinated now. 2 more weeks and I will have much better immunity. My brother finally got an appointment for his 1st vaccine but not until May. It was a lot more crowded this time, I had to wait on line at each point including getting into the whole center and then to see a nurse/ doc about being on a blood thinner and having autoimmune conditions. For some reason they seem to think I am going to bleed to death from a vaccine since I am on a blood thinner. I was a lot more internally crabby about the whole thing this time maybe due to not feeling well most likely. I think maybe I could have bypassed the nurse interview this time. I had some palpitations again, but this time before the vaccine due to high bg.

1. I got my Pfizer 2nd shot 2 days ago. Feel fine today but rough day yesterday -

Ached all over, felt like I'd been hit by a truck. Took a long nap and plenty of Motrin, but today I feel back to normal other than a slightly sore arm.

Definitely plan on taking day 2 off if you can with this vaccine, but it's such a great relief to have it and know that in 12 more days I'll be 95% protected. Especially we lost two people we care about to COVID in the past week.

3. I am very sorry

About your friends that is tragic 😿 So many people have suffered so much.

I am glad you have recovered from the bad day. I hope I donít have the run over by a truck feeling, but I will get through it if I do. I am working from home and have been caring pretty much full time for my dad who was recently stricken with covid and survived but he now has terrible effects, including severe mental distress and overflow incontinence. He is back in hospital for hernia repair after 3 events of it popping out and will need more rehab now. I also had covid pneumonia last April, survived, but I still have back / rib pain and worse asthma.

14. I'm so sorry about your Dad. My mom had a terrible fall 3 weeks ago and it's been awful.

Fractured sternum, lower back vertebrae and a rib; she's 90 with dementia.

I fear she'll have to be in a facility forever since I have 5 bad disks and can't lift anything; she needs 24/7 care now and while not incontinent, needs to be lifted on and off the toilet. She can't sit up in bed by herself, at least not yet, but can walk about 30 feet at a time in a walker, so at leat not paralyzed.

I hope your pneumonia will be better. I've had back pain for years from two bad car accidents and had two broken ribs but at least those healed.

I've found that massage and medical marijuana gummies helps with the back pain.

15. Thanks

That is terrible your mom had that injury😿 is it possible you can get nurses or aids to help? It is so expensive though. I hope she can maybe recover on some level. My father is the same- needs help getting to and on and off the toilet etc. He cannot walk alone with a walker now at all and even woth us helping he falls sometimes so we got a transport wheelchair which we are using as well.

At that age anything like that is a major deal. I donít know what will happen with my dad, he is really having psychotic like episodes from the covid I think and he is immobile now too. We are doing all the pt etc. He was also diagnosed with chf in the middle of all of this and he is severely depressed as well.

Like you I had car accidents and already had chronic pain from that, my covid pneumonia was last April, I had severe pain for one month .5 pretty much non stop. Eventually I did some pt and it got better for two weeks but then strained myself helping my father when he fell and it worsened and has never gone away. It is different than my normal pain, right where the pneumonia pain was and seems to be permanent now getting worse with too much activity and low blood sugar.

Like you I am doing my best to do what I can with my father but tg my brother can do the real lifting but it is still almost an impossible task for two people to manage all of his needs. We are not going to be able to do assisted-living or anything like that even if he would ever agree to it which he wouldnít, unless we go back to Canada where it is highly subsidized. It has been a terrible stress on me, I never imagined things could get this bad.

I have not tried medical marijuana yet, but maybe more pt if I can ever get out of the house. Everything is pretty much consumed by my fatherís care now. I use lidocaine and heat a lot and pk when needed.

Wishing you and your mom peace and love.

4. My wife got her second yesterday

and, as expected, she is feeling it. After her first, three weeks ago, she had no physical effects. Now about 36 hours after her second Pfizer dose, she has a very sore arm, joint pain throughout her body and fatigue. She woke up this morning with a headache, which never happened before, but it went away quickly. Based on everything we have read, she'll be fine by tomorrow. A small price to pay for some level of relief.

For the record. I had my second Pfizer shot two weeks ago and only had a couple hours of chills night one and a little fatigue on day two.

9. I am the same as your wife

Worse pain today in arm etc. it was a lot worse by early am. I have not taken any painkillers this time yet. Maybe that is why. For the first shot I had severe back pain the night before and I had to take a heavy duty painkiller and then as soon as I got pain from the shot I was taking Tylenol every few hours. I think I may have a fever now too, I have to check. I have a headache kind of as well but not nearly as bad as what I had when I had actual Covid pneumonia, and I feel nauseous.

5. My arm hurt for days after the second shot.

It wasn't as bad as the shingles vaccine, but it just ached.

Sorry you had a worse time! But it's over for a year or so at least!

11. That is good he had a minimal reaction.

I nearly always have vaccine reactions, the flu is the worst usually.

And my arm was slightly sore for a couple of days.
That's all.
