I live in North Idaho where COVID rampancy is only exceeded by mask denial. So, when I got up yesterday with what I thought was a low-grade fever - it turned out my temp was under 98 degrees - and a case of diarrhea (both COVID symptoms) I thought "oh shit, I better get tested."
Off I go to the internets...I found a place that does no appointment/no referral testing on Saturdays and got on the road.
Question, question, question...
"Have you been around any infected people in the last 14 days?"
"I live in Idaho."
"Then that's a yes."
Today I got the results back. Fortunately they were negative, and the diarrhea has cleared up on its own.

(13,570 posts)me. I'm glad they are now saying it doesn't seem to spread easily from surfaces. Handling my groceries at the Walmart pick up and bringing in mail are about my only chances of contracting it. I think I'm as close to zero risk as I could get unless I was rich.

(32,017 posts)Watch out for the development of obvious blood clots on the lower legs, ankles, and feet. All the COVID long-termers that I know have those blood clots.
Glad to hear that you are currently well.

(11,448 posts)That my new congressman is closer to you in Idaho than me 7 1/2 hr drive away! He is in Ontario which is by the Idaho border and about 45 min from Boise and a total Trumper! Ugh!
So I won't be expecting any help from him, luckily rest of state run by dems.

(51,584 posts)Glad I don't live there. We aren't doing all that great in CA but at least when I got a fever Fri night I didn't automatically think it was Covid. Last August I had a fever for over a week and got tested and it was neg.

(25,841 posts)I am currently in Santa Fe, NM, and love living here, but your part of the country would be a place I would not mind at all moving to. My son lived in Portland OR for several years. I got to visit him a couple of times an really liked it.

(25,841 posts)I live in a state (NM) where everyone is extremely good about masks and the like. But back in December I had symptoms that I was afraid were Covid. Turned out to be a heart attack. What a world we live in when I'm glad to be having a heart attack rather than some nasty virus.
Oh, and I'm overall the healthiest person I know, which means I've recovered from the heart attack quite nicely, thank you.

(25,841 posts)because I don't enjoy exercising. I do enjoy my fellow rehabbers and the exercise therapists. They are all kind, friendly and always in good humor.
Many years ago my older sister (heart issues run in the family) had her first heart attack at age 43. After, she said it was almost worth it because one of the people in her cardiac rehab class was Ella Fitzgerald. Oh, my. My fellow rehabbers are nice, but not at all famous to the outside world.
