(15,576 posts)That one is pretty minor.
He has his caddy move his ball out of the rough. Once he even played someone else's ball because it had a better lie.
There are no more words.
ProfessorGAC
(69,013 posts)First, it's a fact that most amateur players experience only a small disadvantage in the rough. (Typical rough, not US open hay.)
They will only hit a good shot into the green 30-70% of the time (depending on how good they are). The rough only drops them to 20-25%, to 65%. In 10 holes like that, moving the ball out of the rough, every time, is only going to enhance their score by 1 or 2 shots a round.
So, the picking up on a 6' putt is worse cheating than moving a ball out of the rough. Players from 3-18 handicap only make 15-35% of 6 footers. Every time it's done, 3/4ths of a stroke. Way more "cheaty".
He does both!
Even worse, he's a known stroke shaver. That's the worst kind of cheating!
Drive, second shot in water, hit third shot (4 with penalty), putt, pick up 6' putt, claim a bogey five.
Gave himself a 6 footer and ignored the penalty stroke. He really made a 6, and probable 7.
I'm a 4 handicap. If I played him for $10 per stroke, I'd win at least $180, maybe $240, as long as I was counting the strokes.
Little Linz once said " it" shot a 73. Without cheating, they'd have to have quit counting after the 14th hole.
Stroke shaving is the worst kind of cheating, and T#%$p does it multiple times per nine.

(15,576 posts)It is difficult for me to understand how a grown man could behave the way he does. And I'm sure he convinces himself that he shot a legit "73".

(15,981 posts)... cup and uses his putter as a crutch/cane he digs the putter right into the green surface he leaves a big dent in the green where his putter dug in. This fucx up the next golfer when he tries to putt on that green with trDump's dimples on the golf green.
He also rides his big heavy golf cart right up on the green leaving double rail road tracks where the golf cart wheels traveled on the greens.
Donnie don't give a shit about others.

Oh, but he cheated, and everyone knows he cheats at golf. Obama mentioned it in an interview on Colbert. We know this is a man who cannot accept losing.

(24,542 posts)He lies so much about his golf game it is legendary.
The famous people who have played with him just resign themselves to the fact that he will claim victory, even if he scores a snowman on every hole. They figure he is buying the round, and will buy lunch, so what the hell.
But the fact that he cheats at a game that has as its central premise, self policing or self refereeing, for the most part, says volumes about the character of the man.
Search Rick Reilly on YouTube and you will find numerous vids of interviews he has done about Trumpy.
Heres a short bit that came out just as his book was being published;
Never trust a man who doesnt like dogs and cheats at golf.

(2,464 posts)we play our game as close to the rules as we can. We are not so good as to play the game for money. But what I just sensed, watching the distance of the gimme, was the height of arrogance. Pros make millions proving they don't have to cheat. The rules level life. It matters no longer to one with ever lowering standards, that getting beyond the rules is the game in their sink. He's good at his rules. Good rulers, however, are gooder. We need goodest rulers.

(185,716 posts)The most you will get is a mulligan and people rolling over a lie. Thats about it. Ive never seen anyone pull whats in that video or any of the other stuff Ive read that Trump does.
ProfessorGAC
(69,013 posts)Everybody in our group is decent. 4-12 handicaps.
But, we won't hit a bunker shot out of someone's footprint. We will move a rock in the bunker. (We pay for our own equipment.). A ball in the fairway where a sprinkler head prevented the mower from cutting properly, until cross cutting; we move it a foot. We hit the fairway, we should get a good lie. Back before they changed the rule, we'd putt with the stick in to speed up play.
That sort of thing.
After all, the rules are meant to create game equity for everyone, anywhere. But, pros don't play out of footprint, or have rocks behind their ball because the bunkers are always near perfect.
Rules aren't supposed to punish when the player has actually done nothing wrong.
Getting too wrapped up in the rules can make you crazy.
I was a rules official for years, I know! (The certification test is HARD!!!)
And, I played hundreds of competitive rounds, where the rules are absolute.
We relaxed the rules to keep the game fun. But, we don't get nuts & we count EVERY stroke. We seldom even do Mulligans.

(2,464 posts)But think of your gimmies over time, and compare to your misses of the easy two/three footer. Where are you on the scale of an 8 footer with a tap in to boot?Who are you playing with, what circumstances, did your ship sink? But when you tout; the touted has to make a choice. For or ag'in'. Honor dies young without a call. Think of how many you know who have turned away because there was no call.

(11,900 posts)He spent massive amounts of time at it while in office. It seems to be the only thing he actually likes... and just to cheat at it... how fucked up is that? (185,716 posts)but by all accounts hes a really good player. He doesnt need to cheat but he does it because he thinks hes getting over on people.
ProfessorGAC
(69,013 posts)He's mediocre at best. 90s shooter, probably mid to high.
His swing is very steep, he comes over the top, his weight shift to the left includes a body slide which slows swing speed, his putting stroke is jabby and he lifts out of chips.
I'm about a 4 handicap, and I might do the last of those occasionally.
But, if I had all 4 game faults, I wouldn't be a 70s shooter.
Not only does multiple faults increase the likelihood of doing one, but the errors are compounding.
Sorry, UP but there's simply no way he's a decent golfer.
underpants
(185,716 posts)Thats just what theyve said.
ProfessorGAC
(69,013 posts)Rick Reilly wrote a book about how much he cheats.
Good players don't need to cheat.
There's a mountain of difference between a 4 & a 12. Almost a stroke every other hole. A guy who beats a 92 by 16-18 strokes has no need to cheat.
And, you can't go by pros' comments about an amateur's game.
Since they're a light year better, they tend to be very kind when describing some club player's game.
I played in a couple of LPGA pro-ams. The pros I played with were effusive in their praise of my game, and at the time I had, at best, a 1 in 3 chance of making the cut in their tournament.
But, to hear their compliments, you'd think I was the next Nicklaus.
He could have shot a 100 and they still would have publicly said he was "pretty good". (Of course, if he shot 100, he'd say he shot 81.)
Remember, sycophant li'l Linz said he shot a 73 one day. If Graham said 73, it means he can't possibly shoot a 73. Otherwise, sucking up would be reporting a 65.
