(10,144 posts)The NM Department of Health makes the appointments for everyone who registers on their website. I got a text from the NMDOH and they told me when and where to show up. A half hour after I got my first shot the DOH notified me of the time and location for my second shot. NM's appointment process works very smoothly.

(146,288 posts)rules are where you are. In some states, if you are eligible, it's not that difficult to schedule a vaccination, although the location may not be as convenient as you might like. In other states, it can be very difficult to schedule an appointment.
Where you live and how your state handles it can make an enormous difference.

(58,785 posts)until very recently. Last week people on Nextdoor were posting alerts all day long about pharmacies that supposedly had vaccine. I dont know if anybodys doing that today, but guessing by the end of next week the notion that you have to chase vaccine supply will have been forgotten.
The transition here from the weeks of oh-heck-no to Thousands being processed at a bunch of sites around was fast, so pretty soon it should be the same almost everywhere.

(58,785 posts)to be scheduled for an appointment. But only after Biden was in office, the sociopaths and former golf caddies were out of the pipeline, and we heard on the news that a bunch more vaccine had been purchased and was going to be distributed all over the nation.
We are retired and had no compelling reason to get vaccinated with the very first people. So then we
did nothing.
Monday we were called and told we had an appointment for Thursday at noon.
We got our first shot today. Spent an hour and a half snaking around in a long line of cars all scheduled for the same time apparently, directed on site by a few National Guard soldiers, some cops on the streets directing traffic, paramedics and ambulance having a boring day. All pleasant, helpful and respectful without fail. Fortunately, we brought books to read.
Didnt even feel the needle, waiting to now for any reaction.
