Can we stipulate to two points regarding the Andrew Cuomo situation?

1. What he is accused of IS NOT a crime.

2. What he is accused of IS considered unacceptable behavior BY a Supervisor IN a workplace environment, and many workplaces (including New York Government offices) could apply disciplinary rulings, up to and including dismissal to someone who behaved that way.

1. Agreed

We DUers need to support our elected Democrats. Andrew Cuomo may be a flawed man but he's a good Governor of a powerful Democratic state.

That is all.

2. I so stipulate

I know I'm in the minority but bad behavior is not sexual harassment -- it must be repeated to be harassment, or your security at your job is threatened, etc. There has to be more than one event of boorish behavior to qualify. That's obviously just my opinion but we'd have to lock up half the male population otherwise.

So, unless he repeatedly asked these women about their preferences or pressured them, or something else beyond one encounter, I'm out. This is not sexual harassment by a long-shot. Again, I'm in the minority for sure.

All women, and I got more than my share because I had a full set at an early age, are going to experience unwanted behavior from men. Sorry but it's nature. Men want to procreate (so do women) and they want it now and they want it all the time. Women just want to marry (at 13) and have babies, so they aren't looking to just "hook up" but settle down so they are basically prey. Men are all about spreading that seed far and wide. You will never change that behavior on the whole, never. It's human nature. It is natural. If we do not procreate we cease to exist.

We started working on work-place sexual harassment way back (can't even remember now, it's been so long ago) and though some progress has been made, it's certainly not over. Let's not criminalize bad behavior.

Lastly, unless the repugs start to weed out their ranks of the worst of the worst, it is insane for the dems to be attacking their own. No one was accused of rape here (just tRump but that was ignored as usual).

7. +1, I see the corrective action for Cuomo in the work place is an HR moment and not

... firing IMHE.

If Cuomo persisted after HR moment then that would HWE from what I understand.

9. I'm really over MEN telling WOMEN what sexual harraassment is. My generation of women KNOW

quite well. We also fully know what it is NOT and what should never be equated to actual sexual harassment-- much less sexual assault or rape. We also believe in the judicious investigation of allegations, albeit with appropriate levels of skepticism toward accusations--sans corroboration-- made by those who might exploit the situation for personal gain or motivations, especially with political figures. I'm speaking globally, not to Cuomo's or anyone else's particular case, allegations, or situation.

5. the difference here is that the person who gets fired

gets replaced by the people who usually hire him while in the case of Cuomo there is no such way for that to happen.

6. That's one out of three Cuomo situations.

1. Hitting on the help (and some non-help).

2. Forcing nursing homes to accept patient with Covid.

3. Not reporting nursing home residents who died of Covid as such, if they died after being transported to hospital.

Number 2 actually killed a lot of seniors. Numbers 1 and 3 are pretty meh by comparison.

10. 3. And if there were a disciplinary action...

...it would happen after a hearing and be subject to appeal, and reinstatement if it was later thought to be an overreaction. Not the level of due process we expect in the actual justice system, but there would likely be more consideration than Franken got or that Cuomo seems to be on track to get.

16. I would add it is nauseating that CNN is drumming drumming drumming

As if itís the most important story ever

As if they wonít stop talking about it until they get him out of office

They never do this to big republicans. Only democrats.
Same way with Tanden nomination, as if foregone conclusion her nomination is dead, blah blah blah

The owners get what they want
Right wing gets what it wants
