Would I get in trouble if I posted this on twitter?

"Clarence Thomas wears black face."

Or, on here for that matter?

2. Not with me

But I'm rarely accused of being particularly proper.

Twitter ... I'd GUESS not.

3. Honestly, there is no law, or moral reason, that Black people cannot be hateful right wing zealots.

Unusual and disappointing, I suppose, as are white wingers.

6. Try the reverse...white face. That would be his version of abandonment, of hypocrisy.

8. Yes. You would likely face sanction.

The fact is Clarence Thomas is a Black man who has been uniformly hostile to important societal protections for Black people, like equal justice, access to quality housing, access to quality schools.

9. I think that you would need context and you would also need to have relevant life experience.

It is not something that a White person should say about a Black person.

As disgusting as Clarence Thomas' politics are, unless we are Black, we do not understand his life experience and what kinds of trauma he has suffered. Some people of color will internalize oppression and begin to identify with the dominant cultural group.

12. long ago a prominent African American magazine (h/t to one of my uni profs) had these covers

Emerge

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerge_(magazine)

Emerge was a monthly news magazine that was published from 1989 to 2000. Its primary focus was on issues of interest to African Americans. In 2000, Time said Emerge was "the nation's best black newsmagazine for the past seven years" the St. Louis Post-Dispatch described it as "the premier source for intellectual discussion on issues affecting African-Americans", and the New York Amsterdam News wrote that "it had no rival for cutting edge news for and about the Black community". The magazine was headquartered in Washington, D.C.
