'Kimye' is no more: Kardashian files to divorce West

LOS ANGELES (AP) Kimye is kaput.

Kim Kardashian West filed for divorce from Kanye West in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday after 6 1/2 years of marriage, court records show.

Kim Kardashian West filed for divorce from Kanye West Friday after 6 1/2 years of marriage, court records show. The move brings an impending end to one of the most followed celebrity unions of the 21st century the marriage of a reality TV superstar and a hip-hop and fashion phenomenon with four kids, a vast fortune to split and even more fame.

The couple began dating in 2012 and had their first child in 2013. West proposed later that year using the giant screen at the empty waterfront ballpark of the San Francisco Giants, and the two married May 24, 2014, in a ceremony at a Renaissance fortress in Florence, Italy.

4. I hate the whole Kardashian phenom, but I suspect Kim wants to be taken seriously

now that she's trying to work for causes and gain a law degree. That she couldn't see that Kanye was like an anchor around her neck before now is pretty amazing, but seems she's reached that conclusion now. She might be the smartest of that clan (though granted that doesn't say a whole lot beyond an instinctive talent for grifting).

One does not preclude the other. Hes also a clown, a misogynist, a flat earther, completely ignorant of history and a very rude, impulsive person with a messianic complex.

8. I disagree. Kanye actually is talented. Well, was.

I remember when he was rational and hated George Bush. His video, "Jesus Walks" was inspirational and uplifting for its time. To many, he is a very talented artist. The Old Kanye was wacky, egotistical, really full of himself, but he was just eccentric back then.

The new Kanye went off the Q-anon deep end with trump. I will never understand why.

22. Well, until he got all uppity and interrupted a white woman at an unserious awards ceremony.

People acted like he killed someone.

And if you knew the slightest thing about the guy, you wouldn't be using words like "undeserved" when talking about his career. He's likely the most prolific and talented hip-hop artist of all time.

32. Just Extremely Rude

That people treated him poorly for the interruption should not be condemned due to the fact that the person that was being given an award at the time was white and a woman. It was a person.

Uppity? I think it was just extremely rude, no matter the class level.

Receiving that award, at that time, was supposed to be, I am sure, a treasured moment in that persons lifetime.
Having someone take the microphone and say that she should not have been the winner ruined her moment. Or most likely did.

33. Most people would not have seen it as nearly so offensive if Eminem had done it.

It would have been cute or charming in that case, or a clever publicity stunt.

Whether people acknowledge it or not, the mouth-frothing outrage that people showed after such a benign occurrence was a product of racism.

Kanye literally had to go on an apology tour, cry on TV and go into hiding over something so fucking stupid. Ridiculous.

35. Love of the Victim

I understand the nuance and the level changes due to factors such as you are presenting.

I do not believe that it was a "benign occurrence", but that is redundant, you already know that. I'm just stating it again to rebut how you are presenting it in the last post.

I try not to be one that judges based on such things. And I certainly am not one that was demanding an apology and would still listen to or buy his music after seeing him do that. I'd just think he was a meanie. Now, after learning more about him, I'd chalk it up to his mental health and almost not hold it against him at all.

All people may react differently, most may not even know they are. Some of them may have an inkling.
Some, react very differently, and some of those may even know they are doing it.

If it had been a White Man, a little less?
If it had been a Asian Man, even less?
If it had been a Black Man, even less?
If it had been a Non Good Looking Man, even less?
If it had been a person whom had recently been divorced?
If it had been a person recently charged with assault.
If it had been a person that was recently awarded for Military bravery, perhaps more?

These things do play into how people react.
Unfortunately, they play into how you are treated at the checkout line. How people react as they pass by. Whether or not a person offers help when they see you need it.

But, I find what he did at that ceremony offensive. And I am pretty sure I and many others would have felt the same way no matter how you mix and match the participants.

I know you have a point that it would have been LESS of a reaction.
Yet, I think a STRONG reaction was in order.

I have not researched the reaction. And I'm not a social scientist that might consider just how much greater the reaction was.

Suffice it to say, as I did, that this was not acting "uppity", it was acting extremely rudely.

37. Here's a recap of Eminem being lovingly forgiven and welcomed back into society in 2001

after saying awful things about gay people. At the Grammy's, a far more serious event than the MTV video awards. The audience applauded him while he flipped them off:

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/flashback-eminem-and-elton-john-join-forces-at-the-2001-grammys-66913/

If only Elton John had stepped up for Kanye, eh?

41. Broken Video, but read the landing page

I hate songs that say hateful things about such things.

The article said of Elton John, " He recognized that many Eminem songs were written from the perspective of the deranged Slim Shady."

When you said, "the awful things he said", did that refer to the words in the songs?
I doubt protesters and those that had been offended by him forgave him that night. It would be hard to accept that it was excusable to put them into a song, which they already knew they were in a song before that night.

As for as the original point. When I try to have empathy for the person accepting an award for "Best something" and imagine it being interrupted by someone saying that the acceptor didn't deserve it, I see it as rude, unless it is an obvious false award.
Like Trump getting an award for the "Best Scientist", sure, take the mike and say he doesn't deserve it. lol

40. BTW- calling Swift a "victim" because her speech was interrupted and Kanye argued is...

overstatement...to say the least.

Usually, people called "victims" have been murdered, or raped, or beaten, or stolen from, or at least severely abused in some way...not sure having a speech interrupted (when you can get press attention whenever you want) qualifies.

42. I'm not good with words and "victim" came to mind

Even now, I, well maybe now, I can think of a different word that might be better. Targeted person.(no that's not better)
How about the Offended person.
Ya! that works with my line of reasoning, cause I'm arguing that it was Offensive, not Uppity.

BTW, Webster did say
(2): one that is subjected to oppression, hardship, or mistreatment
and gave the example of "a frequent victim of political attacks"

So, the mistreated one ?
