Boycotting Publix? Let them know.

Publix Heir’s Funding of the Capitol Trump Rally Leads to Boycott

The grocery chain denies any connection to the event, but has made corporate donations to conservative politicians in the past

Publix is facing calls for a boycott after reports revealed that Julie Jenkins Fancelli, heir to the regional supermarket chain and daughter of its late founder George W. Jenkins, donated $300,000 to the Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” Donald Trump rally that preceded the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Fancelli contributed the bulk of the $500,000 needed to fund the rally where Trump refused to concede the election and called on supporters to go to the Capitol and “take back our country,” the Wall Street Journal reported on Jan. 30. Fancelli herself directly contacted far-right pundit Alex Jones — who pledged seed money for the event — and offered to contribute to the rally, organizers told the Journal.

Fancelli, a GOP megadonor, contributed a total of $171,100 to a pro-Trump PAC in 2019, as the Miami New Times reported. This was on top of the personal maximum donations that Fancelli and multiple family members gave to Trump’s campaign. Through a trust, Fancelli also donated more than $50,000 to a PAC for Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis from 2018 to 2019.

Leon County Democrats are calling for boycott too.

5. Yes, it's on the top places to work lists every year.

She has nothing to do with management or operations. They distanced themselves from her immediately.

This boycott is silly, in my opinion.

2. Fancelli doesn't care. She is filthy rich. If every Publix goes under and every employee is gone,

she'll still be filthy rich.

4. Not me. It wasn't a corporate decision.

Where else am I going to shop? Winn-Dixie? Wally World?       Hell no.

6. From the Leon County Democrats Facebook page.

Thanks to Broward County for this!
We are calling for a complete and total boycott of Publix Supermarkets. Publix is a private corporation that is wholly owned by present and past employees and members of the Jenkins family. Although Publix stores offer many benefits, their funding of radical republicans espousing flames of insurrection and treason, has no place in a civilized society.
When you purchase products from Publix, you support radical republicans who espouse lies, disinformation, and a willingness to subvert democracy. A nation-wide boycott, must be initiated to send a strong message that radical republicanism has no place in our communities. Do not patronize this company.
Furthermore, in the last election cycle, Publix donated to the GOP traitors:
Kat Cammack
Mario Diaz-Balart
Byron Donalds
Neal Dunn
Scott Franklin
Matt Gaetz
Carlos Gimenez
Brian Mast
Bill Posey
John Rutherford
Greg Steube
Dan Webster
and Rick Scott
These are the Florida members of Congress who attacked our democracy with lies and disinformation, and who voted to overturn a United States Presidential election.
Additionally, Publix Super Market heiress, Julie Jenkin Fancelli, donated more than $300,000 to fund the riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Publix's motto is "where shopping is a pleasure," however there can be no pleasure in a country under attack by radical republicans espousing flames of insurrection and treason.
For this reason, we are calling for a complete and total boycott of Publix, until funding of radical republicans stop.

7. Dumb.

It's on the top places to work lists every year and has been for more than a decade. She has nothing to do with management or operational decisions.

Kneejerk, misinformed actions like this accomplish nothing.

9. She has nothing to do with operation of Publix. The organization gave to

Democrats too. In fact, I don’t think she even owns any stock nowadays. She took her inheritance in cash.

Bashing her seems reasonable though.
