He was able to trip his son's wife during a family function, ON PURPOSE and son thinks it was "funny".

His life experience has been that whatever he chooses to say at any moment is "the truth". Doesn't matter if it has any basis in fact or that he said the exact opposite two minutes ago, he's in charge, thus whatever he says becomes truth.
