Jamie Raskin just made me cry.

911 happened less than 2 months after my daughter was killed.
Jan 6 happened the day after he buried his son.
what i remember from 11Sep2001 is walking around feeling as if lead had been poured into my veins. it was so heavy.

I just want to hug him. I don't think it can be overstated how much courage, love, and patriotism he is proving by even being there.

watch if it you can; his speech was just before the first 10 minute break. not on youtube yet.

1. He made me cry too.

He gave a master class in Constitutional Law. His personal words were very moving.

And watching the video was overwhelming as well.

it was a trauma, a deep cut to our democracy.

and he just buried his son the day before. just barely put him in the ground.

3. Unfathomable to me after all he has gone through how Raskin can maintain his composure.

Here I am melting into a useless puddle of wax while making a mess of the immediate area.

6. right?

i would be standing up there sobbing, and i know that for a fact because i sobbed all through my remarks almost a year after Bekah died, at the dedication of her headstone (on her 22nd birthday).

i could not stop crying. i just read somewhere that Rep Raskin said, "I lost my son in 2020 and I'll be damned if I lose my democracy in 2021." I am in awe of his determination.

your characterization however made me laugh

5. Same here

It is not easy to get me this upset but his opening statement has caused me to remember Jan. 6 and remember how scared that I was that our democracy was going to be taken away from us. The video used in the opening hit me hard

7. It was heartbreaking watching this man talk about the loss of his son, and his daughter saying she

never wanted to come back to the capitol. I am sure there are some cold hearted MAGATS out there who will find something nasty to say, but if they do, they had better not set foot in a church again because they have no heart, and are NOT Christian.

I so wanted to hug that sweet man, his heart was breaking.

8. me too.

just want to hug him. but i think it's going to have to wait. i can think of nothing more difficult than trying to compartmentalize in this setting. To be stronger than that grief. He honors his son's memory by taking on this role and by doing it very, very well.
