Why does Neguse
(who is doing a fantastic job) keep referring to him as President Trump? Is there some strategy to not adding the "former" qualifier or just calling him Donald Trump? He is not President Trump to anyone except Trump himself.

2. I think maybe two things
1. It's polite to use that term. We still call him President Obama.
2. It may also be to deflect the "he's just a private citizen now" ruse. I wish they would call him "former" - mostly because he personally hates it! |

4. 1. Because that is the formal title, even for "formers." 2. Because they are making the case
that he is still subject to impeachment/conviction despite disingenuous readings of the constitution that R"s will put forth to suggest a "former" President can not be impeached/convicted. So, by not playing that "title" game, he is not aiding them in that, even subconsciously.

5. It's proper to call former presidents as President X

6. It's the correct title. Like calling a retired admiral "Admiral"
or a former ambassador "Ambassador' or a former senator "Senator".

7. I thought you were going to ask why he's speaking by mostly facing to the right side of the space
It’s common address someone by their last, highest title. It’s just part of formally addressing someone who has held an office.

9. It's smart to avoid a title that might turn off repubs. Calling him "former" might do that.
They are trying to get votes, after all.
