US District Judge Beryl Howell halts release order by Seattle Magistrate Judge

A self described Sargent of Arms of the Seattle Proud Boys was set to be released...then same judge halts order...then US District Judge gets involved.
Now Ethan Nordean will be transported to DC by US Marshalls.

I was pissed reading about this this morning! He was certainly a flight risk! The Seattle judge effed this up big time! But Judge Howell says NOT SO FAST!

I still haven't seen an explanation of the magistrate's logic.
Then he delays to give DoJ time to appeal? Is that normal? Seems like an admission of error.
That statement from the criminal's dad is powerful.

Politico has some of the reasoning in their article that I read in the earlier version of King5 article.

Because his dad is a good guy? His dad is the one saying he knew his kid was up to no good and that tried to get him off that path.
He's 30! If he was ignoring his dad before, why would he start now?
Was the mag feeling hamstrung by COVID concerns? If so, why isn't that stated?
Then he tells the guy that it might get overturned. Does that mean he knew this a bad idea, & did it anyway?
Still something weird here.

I see the reasons but don’t understand.

I looked him up and he used to be a public defender...maybe he tries to rule on the side of the defendant until proven guilty. 🤷?♀️

Also, I’ve gleaned from the various articles that the prosecution was not happy at all and told the judge what they would be filing procedurally...once he was notified then he was obliged to tell the defendant that his release could be stayed.

Judge Howell has intervened in more than one of these cases.

But yea. I don’t understand HOW judge came to first decision to release.
