@brianecorley @DavidMariutto The voters waiting in line in Miami are both requesting absentee ballots, then voting them.

76,000 votes already cast in must-win Florida

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Floridians have already cast more than 76,000 ballots in the presidential election and the campaigns for Republican Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama are scrambling to reach out to 2 million other voters who have requested absentee ballots.

The Department of State released the absentee voting totals Wednesday. And now that the voter registration deadline has passed, both campaigns are focusing on winning as many votes as they can before the Nov. 6 election.

Early voting in Florida starts 10 days before the election. So this is absentee voting and if there are lines there are also not many places where you can line up for this, not like there are for early voting.

But good to know it is in fact for this election and the number sounds excellent. Thanks for posting the info.

. . . since it's meant to take pressure off of that one day and allow for folks who might be discouraged by election day lines. This gives them the ability to choose a time out of a number of days, instead of just one, which suits their need for unfettered access or works to accommodate their personal time restraints.

It reads like a slam directed at the Obama camp . . . doesn't mention that Romney's campaign has been working to capitalize on early voting in Fla., as well.

They're not going to do long lines. I'll check that out about Caputo, don't know that much about him except that he was the main reporter exposing Rep. David Rivera so I figured he's not too bad, who knows.
