Assuming the Republican Senators have no integrity to convict on obvious proof, why not go to court and present the evidence to a court and jury?

(14,250 posts)remember trump cronies purged the doj of anyone they could who wasn't a believer. It's likely still stacked with assholes and nobody left wants that job.
Plus there is at least one special council out there that would work against any such move.

(13,650 posts)Trump only got 4-5% of the vote there, so you could easily have a jury without Trump cultists. Im not saying they would definitely convict him but they would give the prosecution a fair hearing.

I think they will focus on prosecuting the insurrectionists first, which will give them a ton of evidence on their states of mind and how Trump influenced and incited them to storm the Capitol.
I would hope DOJ would first indict Trump in the Individual 1 Cohen/Mueller case, since the statute of limitations on those crimes expires in a few months.
