Treasured Cleaning Woman Was Gifted The Penthouse Suite By Grateful Residents Of NYC Luxury HighRise![]() One clear positive that has come about from the pandemic, is the appreciation and gratitude that most if not all of us feel about the essential front line workers that leave the safety of their homes to work with the general public...with all the inherent risks that are involved. And we show our appreciation in many ways. The residents of this Manhattan high-rise have always appreciated Rosa ( she has chosen not to reveal her last name.) 6. Nice gesture but what happens after two years? IMO a nice check would be better.

11. Yes, gifts with substantial value are not free
Not sure exactly how, but perhaps they also can cover the taxes? I hope they also plan to furnish the place. Still awesome gesture.
This is the DU member formerly known as lettucebe.

12. Agreed. I wouldn't want to crap on the gesture, but I hope she doesn't...
...get hurt by this unintentionally.

9. Yeah, seems a nice but kinda strange gesture.
Are they picking up the utilities and condo fees as well?

17. Agree completely.
Now she has to show proper gratitude non-stop on every elevator ride.
How does she furnish this thing? And then at the end she has to move out and go back to her much poorer life? Just give her a large check and let her help herself and her family the way she wants. I think one of the benefactors is doing some major tax write-off of the "unpaid rent or something like that. It's so huge—probably over 10K a month? |

13. Maybe she can use the money she saved in rent
over the 2 years to buy a place of her own? Or, a down payment on her own place.

14. What a wonderful story. Now, the downside is she can't say she was late for work....
....because the subway was delayed!!!
![]() I loved the man's comment, too - "but you'll have to find a cleaning lady." Every time we think we've seen the worst in people, something like this happens, beautiful. |

18. Many years ago I realized that our world was utterly dependent
on the cleaning ladies and the secretaries to work.
I do worry that it's only a 2 year lease. |
