and his mob freedom? It breaks one's spirit. No extra length of lazy river in the backyard pool renovation is going to mitigate that they are no longer masters of their own domains. People who would do anything for power don't really have agency anymore. They are peons. Corruption works like that. You end up intertwined, not free and a bit more dead inside because they know they kissed the ring of someone they don't respect.

(14,906 posts)less valuable to you than being unconstrained by rules and laws that normal people are held to. Overt, straightforward corruption is liberty to the uberweathy because with enough money there isn't anything you can't have however you want it.

(118,499 posts)buy a car is to kidnap or crime. Or shake down business. That is not freedom. That is a revolution waiting to happen. We may be at this last thing very soon if short selling GameStop is any sign. The rich GOP wanted the wild west. They may get it. And they will have to keep kissing Trump's ring to keep the lid on angry white men.

(7,733 posts)everyone else they need for Republican votes. I think the Rich only care about getting more money. Trump was just the vehicle.
The thing the rich fear most is losing their money. Second is they dont want the angry mobs to turn on them. They are easy to find.

(32,626 posts)the problem is the little people think the GOP works for them, and always has. That's the real kicker. They've been buying the bullshit for a lifetime, yet still lap it up. Their self-worth is wrapped around their whiteness. The fact that the chances of them entering the moneyed-class are slim to none is not as important as their belief that other people are taking what is theirs. If it weren't for (?)whatever....they would be living in the mansion high up on the hill. Never occurs to them that those they worship, are robbing them blind....every which way.

(3,689 posts)Freedom is so misunderstood.
When one is bound by world-wide-webs of delusions and lies living on the internet, one is not free.
When one is constrained by fears that lahks* of millions, even bits of billions, are not enough, one is not free.
Humans from penthouses to no-houses are nearly universally bound by overwhelming desires, aversions or fears.
There is so much talk about freedom from external restraints and so much ignorance of internal shackles.
We shout for freedom from within self-built fortresses of fetters, fears, challenges and chains.
The freedom to open carry guns of wars seems not to free the one brandishing from their always full bandolier of fears.
The objective truth of excessive over-abundance is missed by the rich tycoon with an overdrawn 'never-enough' account.

(10,893 posts)the "freedom" word. When they talk about freedom, all they really mean is freedom from consequences and freedom to exploit others. When it comes to freedom affecting historically disadvantaged groups, they have no use for that.
