Make it a federal crime for states to oppress minority voting.

What we need is a federal regulatory body that will provide oversight to ALL 50 states that will step in when any state tries to legislate minority votes out of existence.

It should be a civil right violation when a state passes a law aimed at suppressing minority voting. Or really, any voting.

Anyone that champions making voting more difficult needs a long prison sentence or permanent expulsion from this great land.

Support democracy or GTFO.

The problem is crafting it to withstand a Supreme Court challenge.

I know it is not popular on this board, but I think a universal ID is the minimum entry point to get acceptance by the Courts and the Republicans. I know the argument regarding voter suppression, but that is the go to position by them that convinces enough voters that illegal voters are voting.

I would want some serious dollars behind the effort, and the default position is that everyone receiving the ID is also a registered voter. Only death removes that voting right. Congressional District eligibility will need to be worked out in some fashion. The ID contains a number just like your license. I have to put that number on my early voting envelope for voting in my state. That number should be sufficient to show you are an eligible voter.

At least three weeks should be dedicated to early voting with voting locations based upon population size. There should be at least one Sunday for early voting as well.

These are the kind of ideas that we need to put into place.

I'd vote for all of what you said, exboyfil.
