(3,781 posts)Sherrod Brown cleaned his clock twice. The problem is the Ohio Democratic Party. They're a joke. They're piss-poor at identifying young, up-and-coming talent and even worse at SUPPORTING the people they do have. I've had a number of friends who ran for office here in Ohio, only to reach a critical point in the campaign and have the Ohio Democratic Party pull all their funding.
It doesn't help that Ohio is gerrymandered into oblivion, and once you get outside the major cities, it's nothing but hillbillies who all have southern accents (that will NEVER make sense to me--last time I checked Ohio was a NORTHERN State). Labor unions used to proliferate in Ohio, but the Republican Party has decimated those, along with most of the manufacturing jobs, yet these idiots continue to vote Republican because they love guns and hate minorities.
I think 2022 is going to be a very interesting year because Republicans in Ohio absolutely HATE Mike DeWine for taking safety precautions after COVID hit, yet they're going to be forced to decide between voting to re-elect him or vote for an evil Democrat. My guess is the Ohio Democratic Party will run some sacrificial lamb against DeWine (because they have no superstars in the pipeline), and the hillbillies will decide that voting for a Republican they hate is still better than voting for a Democrat.
And that pretty much explains why things are they way they are right now here in Ohio.
