Media ombudsmen: Does anyone have a list of contacts?

In less than a week since the Inauguration, we've read nonsense stories about President Biden's watch and his Peloton. These are nothing stories, but by placing them in the media, they become something.

The MSM again is being played by the Rs in the one and only area that they excel in: destroying/smearing people. I'm far more concerned about the more serious issues, but the MSM (and social media, for that matter) need to be confronted.

I'm hoping that someone on DU has a list of ombudsmen at various media outlines (TV, internet, print, radio) as to who complain to about unfair/slanted/untrue reporting etc. Usually, these are impartial people who will investigate something and make changes if warranted.

One of things we can do at DU is call/write to these people en masse. I'm convinced that it does make a difference. I'm so very proud of the folks (young, middle-aged, and older) who were able to peacefully translate anger about something into a mass resistance via TikTok, Twitter, etc these last 4 years.

If the media (or its advertisers) know that something is going to cost them money or reputation, most of them will think twice. AFAIK, this is the best way to counter the idiotic and/or dangerous stories we are already beginning to see surface.

If there is a list of media contacts to whom to complain, that would be great!

2. Thanks, but more like this

This is from the UK: https://www.ipso.co.uk/complain/

I am seeing similar organizations in Australia, India, Ireland, Canada etc. But I can't find one for the US of A.

Strange. But basically, I thought most responsible media had someone to whom you could make a complaint. Perhaps I was dreaming!

4. No. That's a UK website for starters

But also, what I'm looking for is the following, using CNN as an example: if CNN runs a story that is slanted or biased, is there a person in CNN to whom we can complain to see about changing the story? If enough people call or write that person, usually that particular media and reporter will generally be more careful to write/produce a less biased piece. In some industries, this kind of person is referred to as an ombudsman.

It's really interesting that the US doesn't seem to have this kind of organization, yet several countries do. I wonder if that says a lot about the US media right there. Perhaps I'm not searching properly, but there doesn't appear to be something like what those other countries have. There is Media Matters, which is the closest thing I could find for the US: https://www.mediamatters.org/

Appreciate that you looked, though! Thank you.

5. Most large media outlets have eliminated ombuds positions.

6. Well, that's disappointing.

I guess the next best thing is a list of the President or CEO of news organizations.
