Well, I got my $600. Stupid debit card...

Oh well, it didn't seem too hard to activate it, but the on-line website demands quite a bit of personal info.

Guess I'm good to go for now. Oh, I have to see if there are any ATM restrictions. Don't want to be paying any uneccessary fees. It's supposed to be free at normal retain outlets. Oh well.

1. We got a check

I wonder how they decide who gets checks and who gets debit cards?

24. I got a check the 1st time, the shitty debit card next...

...I went to an ATM that was supposedly "fee free," which prompted me to "check the balance," for which I was charged a quarter.

So I now had $599.75 on the card.

I took out $200 in cash, and used that to make a very nice purchase at my favorite legal cannabis dispensary, so that 33+% in taxes of that 200 went to the city/county/state tax coffers.

I used the rest of it like a debit card, mostly buying groceries.

In the end, I lost about $5 to fees.

These debit cards were a way for Preznit Impeachment King to siphon off millions to his cronies.

Direct deposit or US Treasury checks should be the standard forms of payment, not this corporate skimming bullshit!!

45. You're complaining? .25 to check the balance, $200 for cannabis, ...

... leaving 399.75 for chocolate-chip cookies and potato chips?

Sounds like a good deal!

I would have prefered a check, but we were not given a choice.

34. It's not luck

If you file your taxes electronically and have it set up where the refund is direct deposit the same is done for the stimulus check. If you donít file taxes electronically and you get a paper check for your refund then the stimulus is either a check or debit card.

47. Don't think that's true.

Weíve filed electronically for years, havenít changed accounts, receive our SS income electronically, receive all our tax refunds or payments electronically to/from the same account and got the last stimulus deposited in that same account.

We got the %^$# debit card this time!

I have no idea how they determined what form each got their money, but it seems to have had eff all to do with past events or logic.

7. Actually, I think I can do that on line...

visited the website, it's a little obtrusive so many may not want to log in. But there is an option to transfer money to a bank account.

I may try that, or maybe I'll do it manually. I work out of a credit union and do everything electronically. There aren't a lot of offices with real tellers in them around.

6. I tried loading onto my credit union accountt via an ATM

That doesn't work. I thought I was going to go down to their one office down town which would suck. Then I remembered I still have an old Chase account that I used to keep a couple hundred in for cash, they have ATMs all over. But they also have a lot of branch offices so I went there and had the money transferred to that account. Then I could use that account to pay my credit card. Doing it that way I didn't end up incurring any charges.

I don't know why. We got a check last time. We'll have to find a way to cash it out and deposit it in our bank account. We're planning on splitting the amount to go to a food bank and a needy friend.

I hear they're based out of a Trump friend's bank in Atlanta or such.

Whatever. I'll take it.

They come from Meta Bank in Sioux City and the link on Google said it is one of the highest rated mid-sized banks in the country.

Why would they do that? Mine came as a direct deposit. You would think that it would cost more and be less safe to issue a debit card than a check.

33. I forgot that I was PAID by a debit card...

... when I worked for a company in West Dayton, until seeing this thread.

I asked if I could be paid by direct deposit instead, and their HR rep said it was "easier this way" (for her) to just pay everyone with debit cards because "several employees can't even get a bank account".

It was such a scam. There were banking fees for almost everything! Maybe the first two purchases were free each pay period? Then FEES thereafter.

And there were fees to convert any of the balance to cash, even from the bank that issued the card!

I can't believe that I put that BS out of my mind. It was strong motivation for me to find another job!

I sure hope the government card isn't as ridiculous!
