.@kpolantz notes something that needs more attention: DOJ is at a really early stage in investigation into insurrection. They don't want to charge until they've got the evidence, and don't want to tip their had to early.

But that creates problems for people like Zip Tie Guy who might be REALLY dangerous -- or a key cog in the risk to lawmakers -- but against whom the evidence is not yet there.

(4,394 posts)they should sit in jail until their trial. That includes anyone who video taped themselves bragging about their intent to do something beyond simple trespassing.
In particular, anyone who carried a weapon, carried restraints, stole anything from an office, laid a finger on Capitol Police, took pictures of documents, threatened to kill an elected member or gave instructions to other rioters should be rotting in a cell until the trial begins.
