Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am reminded of Theoden's response to the evil wizard Saruman, who tried to beguile the king ...
... with entreaties of peace. King Theoden replied:
We shall have peace... We shall have peace when you answer for the burning of the Westfold! When you answer for the children who lie dead on the plains! For the soldiers who were hewn even as they lay dead! We shall have peace when you hang from a gibbit for the sport of your own crows!
Unity and healing cannot be achieved without truth and accountability. Do not let an unrepentant wizard set the terms for moving forward.
And do not take at face value entreaties for unity from unrepentant Republicans who attempted to overthrow our democracy.

Tolkein's written works are even better.
