NJ Army Reservist With Security Clearance Busted for Capitol Riots

A U.S. Army reservist with a secret-level security clearance and “access to a variety of munitions”—described in court papers as a white supremacist and Nazi sympathizer—has been charged with taking part in the violent Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

Timothy Louis Hale-Cusanelli of Colts Neck, New Jersey, works as a contractor at Naval Weapons Station Earle, which is also in Colts Neck, according to an FBI affidavit filed last week.

He now faces five federal counts: knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority; disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; disrupting the orderly conduct of government business; parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building; and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Naval Weapons Station Earle is the operational support base for four Military Sealift Command combat logistics ships: USNS Arctic, USNS Robert E. Peary, USNS William McLean, and USNS Medgar Evers.

Wouldn't want to be him. White supremacy has proven to be costly to him.

Too bad, so sad.

It shouldn't take his company long to terminate his employment. The security clearance can be suspended immediately, and if he's in a unit, I expect it will be. And with that an immediate transfer to the IRR until any investigations are complete, followed by a discharge. Kiss it goodbye, buddy.

(If he's an officer, it'll take a little longer, but the article doesn't say rank, as far as I could tell. In any event, what a dumbass.)

Bad move. He now faces military justice along with his federal felonies. I hope being a white supremist was worth it for him.

He can and probably will be court martialed in addition to Federal charges being brought against him.

I wish more of the protesters would face this. A presidential pardon could still reach them, but I hope they don't have enough money to buy one.

that was in the army in the 50’s and then went into Air Force reserves. So not unusual. He is in his eighties now. I remember back around 2006 and he and I were talking politics and he told me then he was concerned eventually we would get into another civil war. I think of that conversation often now. He came across gruff, but was an old softy. He particularly cares about the environment, wildlife, and volunteered to teach adults how to read I believe.

Nut cases like that have no business being allowed anywhere near munitions, and whoever granted his security clearance need their head examined (and their bank account for large deposits from a Russian bank's Swiss subsidiary).

My brother has a top security clearance for sensitive Defense stuff. His wife had to renounce her citizenship (she is from Japan) and take out U.S. citizenship in order for him to keep his job. They don't grant that level of security clearance to just anybody, and the vetting process is not done over the course of a weekend. Who the hell authorized his?

But that would have happened anyway with his participation in all this sedition.

What I don't understand is that the name Betancur is a Hispanic last name.
The dumba$$ doesn't believes that the white supremacist's groups he belongs
