2. I have hated B of A for decades. A sleazy corporate entity that does nothing
but prey upon people. Credit unions. Local. The only way to bank.

4. They did the right thing for safety and security reasons
Someone left their id card at my business once and I just turned it in to the local police dept .
And I gave a social security card I found to the mail delivery person. I am annoyed when I had a hard time reporting I found a credit card. I just ended up cutting it and throwing it away. But I thought I could at least let them know where I found it in case it has been stolen . But my guess is not much us done to stop these type of crimes . |

5. At this point, they have to issue a new card
They dont know who you are and if the card has now been copied, It would have to be re-issued with a different number.
Anything else and they are just asking for it. |

20. Hello, you could be an axe murderer for all they know
or someone who stole her card and wants to extort payment for its return.
The minute you report a lost card it’s immediately canceled, whether the cardholder wants it or not. A new card with a different number is issued. I know you’re trying to help, but you need to let it go and cut the card up. The bank was doing its job, with standard operating procedure. Every bank would follow the same protocol when a card is reported missing by its owner. |

6. I hate B of A w a passion, but I don' t blame them for not
Connecting you directly with w/ of their customers. Especially a female customer. Your intentions are honest and worthy, but what if you were lying about your intentions? They can't make that call.
I get your frustration though. It feels like you can't even do something nice for someone these days. |

I was simply offering them an opportunity...

7. Any card found in a supermarket parking lot should be handed
to the customer service desk inside. I'm terrible about dropping my card at the grocery. It has always been waiting for me at the desk. Yes, I've been very lucky and I need to clean up my act.

8. Most banks suck
I am particularly angry with Citizens Bank for ruining my account with an unauthorized charge and refusing to fix it. It’s why I don’t have my second stimulus yet.

9. they absolutely did the right thing.
If I lose my card, I dont want a stranger to get my information for suppositely handing it back to me. Think about security and safety issues

10. When I worked in retail
we were instructed that if a customer accidentally forgot their card, we were to keep it locked in the cash register until the end of the work day, and if they didn't show up to claim it, we cut it in 2 and turned it in when we closed.
The best thing you could have done was turn it in at the store associated with that parking lot. |

11. I was a Realtor for 25+ years...
in the last 10 years before I retired, if a agent brought an offer to me for one of my sellers and the lender was Bank of America, I'd suggest to the agent first that they change lenders & explain why in the following way.
If they insisted on using BoA, I would advise my seller to counter or reject the offer. In the prior 3-4 years, approximately 75% of the failed transactions I'd had, had been with BoA. I had a huge blowup with them in 2010 when I had an listing on a property they had started foreclosure on. With their permission I listed it. Within a few days I had an offer for more than the delinquent amount, presented it to their "foreclosure expert", and waited. And waited. And waited. I tried calling him numerous times, got recordings to leave a detailed message, which I did every time. I NEVER heard back from him. In the meantime the agent for the buyer was patiently trying to explain to her buyer that foreclosures take time. She was extremely professional & competent & I was growing more frustrated as weeks went by. Finally after about 6-7 weeks of never hearing from their "expert", I finally got through to a supervisor. Within a few seconds he told me they had rejected the offer 5 days after they had received it. I blew up and said things about the total f'ing stupidity & incompetence of their dept, intelligence, and bank. He said he was making notes of my language, attitude & belligerence, and asked I never do business with them again. Trust me...I NEVER DID AGAIN AND NEVER ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the DU member formerly known as Enterstageleft.

13. They once charged me $5 to cash a paper check that was from Bank of America.
It was an expense check from work I wanted to use to buy my wife a Christmas gift on the down low. She handles our money so it would have been hard to make it a surprise if I used our bank.

just bobbing along the surface like a jellyfish which is what I thought it was at first. took it to the lifeguard stand and they didn't want it. got home and there was a driver's license from a small new england town.
called information and got the name matched with a number. left a message saying I found something of your so call me back. and they did! turns out they were staying just a block from me so they were happy to get all their stuff back. |

The bank did the right thing.
The policy seems to be: we don't want to expose our customers to some rando. |
