I'd like to thank everyone

who offered me well wishes upon news of my dog's passing. I would have liked to thank each of you individually, but this thread will have to do. Your kind words meant a great deal to me.

I also learned that many of you are grieving over loss of your own pets, and my heart goes out to you.

All my best,
BainsBane

Most of us have. It hurts, but the memories will be happier with time.

openly and freely. It took a lot of purging like that to finally get it out of my system. Now my current sweet doggy is getting older and I can hardly stop hugging on her because I know our time is limited. My pups have been the light of my life but the hole they leave in your heart is indescribable. Still, on balance, the pain is very much worth it.

from your cold would stop by. Then one day I heard a kitten crying and adopted it. I soon discovered that she was left there by a feral cat and I started feeding them. That was nearly 30 years ago and I still feed them, tame the kittens and give them away to either friends, a pet shop or the JSPCA.
Years ago we rescued a dog that fell into the reservoir and kept her for a week before giving her to friends.
No more dogs after Roots. See I helped her and her siblings recover from mumps so she was special. Her mother was my aunt's dog and the entire litter had mumps so I nursed them with glucose and milk and she gave me the pick of the litter.
Dad gave me my first dog - Sooty and it was hard to leave her when I went away but mom adored her and she had company.

I couldn't bear the pain of losing another dog. The cats come and go - that's good enough.

They put them in a nice wooden box and included a casting of her paw as well as paw prints. I expect I'll talk to her ashes from time to time.

I’m sorry for your loss. The pain is so intense.
We ended up getting a new furry friend about 6 months after ours left us because the house was just too quiet.

But I know your heart is broken and you have my condolences. Grieve and then bring another into your life because the joy they bring exceeds the sorrow...

I lost my precious beagle after a three year battle with lung cancer. She'd only been given six months but she hung in there and passed away on her own terms. Take care of yourself.
