School board locks teachers out of virtual classrooms, threatens to dock pay if they don't report to

Chicago Public Schools returned to in-person learning Tuesday despite pushback.

Chicago Public Schools has threatened to dock the pay of teachers who do not report to class as the school district returns to in-person learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The school district reopened Monday for the first time since closing at the start of the pandemic in the spring of 2020, despite pushback from the Chicago Teachers Union, which claims that proper protocols are not in place to keep teachers and students safe from the virus.

At least 145 CPS teachers were absent Tuesday without official leave, ABC Chicago station WLS reported. About 6,000 students returned on Monday, but another 71,000 students are expected to return on Feb. 1.

3. Did the school district ensure that the teachers

had access to vaccinations before forcing them into classrooms?

4. No idea, but vaccines are not immediately effective & require 2 doses

About 3-4 weeks apart.

Sadly, the Chicago Publuc School system just plain sucks. Very anti-teacher and anti-student, for that matter.

5. I was being facetious. I know they haven't been vaccinated. But

thatís what it should wait on. Every teacher who wants to be vaccinated should have the opportunity to do so before being threatened by loss of job.

6. Lol

Sorry.

I agree! And vaccines are not 100% effective. Even those vaccinated can still transmit.

Schools have no business being open until entire population is vaccinated.
