Well, Good News. My son, who was a DT supporter just told "DT proved everyone else was right. He's
a maniac! I was with him until after the election and he tried to claim fraud cause he lost. Since then he's gotten progressively worse. Inciting a riot was proof he IS INSNE!" My son was in the military for 15 years, and they must teach them to be Repubs because so many military people are. Anyway, we agreed not to talk about DT with each other because we both knew neither one would budge. When he callwed tonight, the first thing he said was "maniac" line. I'm so glad he finally se the truth. I HOPE many other Repubs have done the same
!

1. Congratulations
I'm sorry it took him so long to see it, but you must be grateful that he does. I'm happy for you and your family.

15. Reverse logic
It attracts people who fit that mind-set to begin with.
They absolutely reinforce "conservativism". However, I know a *lot* of Democrats in the military, and the military voted D in GA in 2020. |

18. Stop playing Rush etc. on forces radio...
When Obama was president Rush was in non-stop attack mode and it was being broadcast continuously to the troops. That’s just wrong. How can they even justify it?

19. Repubs are in big numbers because they are that way when they get there.
Not everyone who joins the military does so purely out of "patriotism".
Many join because they have no other opportunity. Solidly "Red" States are often places with the least opportunity for young people. |

20. I went in to the Army a Republican.
And finished my service as a liberal Democrat.
I’m straight, but the vicious homophobia that came to the surface during the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell debate helped me embrace my inner liberal. Nothing is more repellent than the ghoulish things some of my fellow soldiers said they wanted to do if they ever encountered a gay person. I didn’t want to spend any more time in the company of such nasty people. |

21. How would you change that?
I don't care how they vote, as long as they uphold their oath. They have a right to vote as they choose, and are sworn to defend the constitution - which grants them that right.

5. First, what wonderful news and relief for you. These stories
are wonderful to hear, I'll take anecdotal evidence of a crack in the Trump grip.
Good on him for being able to admit we were right about him and he was wrong. To me, that's one of the biggest barriers to letting the truth in. Very glad to hear this for you, and for him. |

... that Chump has been THIS crazy all along.
None of this just started after the election. His insanity has been evident from the beginning, but people refused to see it. Thank goodness your son did finally see the light. Congratulations! ![]() ![]() |

14. He keeps saying DT did some good things, like some peace in the ME. He also recognized DT did some
stupid things like siding with Vlad over his Intelligence guys ON NATIONAL TV! I'm not going to push it with him. I'm just glad he recognized that DT wanted to be a dictator. Had I tried to convince him of that before now, he would have told me i'm absolutely nuts! I'll take his recent about face and be very happy it happened. He's leaving for the UAE on Thursday and I'm positive he will talk to his military buddies when he gets there. I'm pretty sure he will turn most of them too. He's not in the military anymore, but he works at a military base as a Manager. That's how good info spreads.

33. Agreed. Dump's been a loose, nutso cannon for years.
Seriously, if one wanted to hang their hat on having a conservative for pres, for which I would forever vehemently disagree just because, why in gawd's name would they have chosen this fatuous fool? Oh yes, we're talking about a group of dopes that selected two other maroons in Reagan & Shrub as pres candidates. Both of whom won. Twice. (Note that the "smart" Bush couldn't muster enough of the crazy for a 2nd term!)
There seems to be a common thread for the right of putting numbskulls up for president (and any other fed office if the current crop is anything to go by), each one worse than their predecessor. Whose next? Matt Gaetz, Louie G, Donnie Jr or the other Donnie Jr - also known as Eric? He-Hawley? Pompousasseo? The last is likely not dim enough. And certainly not Pence. He'll forever be stained with not single-handedly negating the electoral vote and proclaiming dump Generalissimo and emperor for life. At least in the eyes of the true-believers. (True-believers of what is still a complete mystery - I've yet to read or hear a cogent argument or statement of policy, other than "pwn the libs" from that side. Gnawing at their own ankles? Or other body parts? If they ever get to the right body parts, they'll stop reproducing.) |

13. Better late than never ....
Still have to wonder how, after all that has happened over the last 4 years, he was only convinced after the election. Myself, I was convinced Trump was insane and unqualified the second he came down that escalator and opened his mouth.

My one hope is that Trump has finally gone too far, and he will start losing support. Things are very serious right now, and for some people that's what it takes to wake them up.

hope it's a lot less than that, now that all the videos are showing just how horrific it was. And I'm glad your son finally saw the truth.

40. There is no teaching
the military to be Republican. I went in the Army a Democrat and emerged 38 years later (21 active duty and 17years in Reserve/National Guard) still a strong Democrat....I never shared with my soldiers or best buddies which party I belonged to or who I voted for. It was always between me and the ballot box. I tell my students( I teach high school history) when they ask me my political pursuasion the same thing, who I vote for is between me and the ballot box....now my fmaily know I am a staunch Democrat as they are.
