The Silver Lining of the lack of police causing the breach of the Capital building

not to overlook or minimize the deaths that resulted, this is purely speculative

But if the obvious stand down order never happened, if they had at least the same force (and weaponry and tanks, helicopters etc.) including the steps of the Capital lined with riot geared police as they were with the BLM protest, or WTO, or Occupy, or ....insert progressive issue protest here...... there would be video of MAGAts clashing with police. And police clobbering them. That would not look good optically for the party that supports law and order, and the Blue Lives Matter "movement".

That, I'm sure, was the reason they concocted the plan of police thinning. Also mixing in what few officers that were working that day with those they knew sympathized with the MAGAts. I don't know if they even thought it out past that. They just made sure that their strategic cops let them in past different checkpoints, so they'd get in rather easily, without violence That was the plan at least. Perhaps they figured that the non MAGAt cops would just shrink back too. Maybe they figured this protest would only result in some loud chanting inside and they'd have a sit in, and then be escorted out carefully by the "peace" officers. (Well that part happened!) Get some good footage of that on the news, and then go on record saying that while they disapprove of occupying the chamber like that, this "civil disobedience", this shows how patriots are upset and their concerns on election fraud should be taken seriously!

But I also do not rule out that those in on the insurrection conspiracy actually thought it had a chance, and were committed to the plan, which is even scarier. I wonder if they will find a deeper infestation to the very top of the chains of command in different law and order agencies. If there was a plan set in place, which included many Republican reps as well. Fox News on "stand down" orders until the right moment. Right now I can totally believe that as well

Either way, my point is this. They end up looking worse by association with violent insurrectionists, than they would have if they'd allowed a sufficient police presence to battle and quash them outside on the street, despite the politically distasteful images.

It backfired. Instead the newspapers now have these headlines:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/01/11/passivity-is-complicity/

Republicans who arenít willing to act against sedition are complicit

1. Even Neville Chamberlain would say that's nuts.

They stood down in the face of known bad people who then went on to do exactly the bad things they said they were going to do. Those people are not even fit to pick up trash by the roadside.
