(4,485 posts)So many people accuse Jimmy Carter of having been a bad president, but it's simply not true. He was right about almost everything. It wasn't that he was a bad president; I think he perhaps wasn't able to present his ideas to the stupid American public in a way that they would understand. Reagan was a fucking idiot in EVERY regard. The difference between Carter and Reagan wasn't as stark, but today it reminds me of the difference between Obama and that fat ass Pussy-Grabber.

(19,265 posts)President of the United States in terms of personal character during my lifetime. Even my died-in-the-wool republican mother said he was "too nice a man to be president", which shocked the hell out of me. May their second 74 years together be even better than their first.

(38 posts)barely a teenager when he was elected but remember my grandparents being so happy he had won. I always wondered why they admired him so. Now I've come to realize how much of a decent and kind man he is and always was. My grandparents somehow knew and had little to no education...Just a couple of tobacco farmers most of their lives.

(12,344 posts)I don't remember much about his presidency as I was very young at the time, but I do remember how much my mother and grandparents admired him and respected him. They were very disappointed when he didn't get a second term. I wish the first couple a very Happy New Year and hope they can celebrate their 75th.
