Casino planning private 4,000-person New Year's Eve party
ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- The Graton Casino in Rohnert Park is closing its doors to the public on New Years Eve;
instead hosting a private party, according to their website. Sonoma County Officials say they are aware of the event. "It would be our preference to not have a party with 4,000 people indoors," said Paul Gullixson, a spokesperson for Sonoma County during a press conference Wednesday. Sonoma County Public Health officer Dr. Sundari Mase said she had been in touch with the casino, but has no jurisdiction over sovereign land. In a statement, the tribal chairman Greg Sarris told ABC7: "The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria continue to work closely with the Sonoma County Public Health Officer. Graton Resort & Casino will remain open on a limited basis and continues to exceed all CDC safety requirements. In addition to those safety measures already in place, team members are tested for COVID-19 every two weeks and wear digital devices that ensure social distancing. Bars will continue to remain closed, and walk up alcohol service will end nightly at 9:00 pm." https://abc7news.com/graton-casino-new-years-eve-2020-party-sonoma-county-coronavirus/9022101/

1. 4,000 People?
Mitigation measures aside, unless their casino is the size of the Grand Canyon, 4,000 people means crowded.
Bad plan. |

3. Our revenge for Wounded Knee?
I'm very disappointed in my fellow Native Americans for choosing money over public safety, especially since COVID has so tragically ravaged the Navajo Nation. Shame on them. I am ashamed. They have no honor.

4. If they're being so "cautious". . .
Then they should be able to monitor the impact of this 4,000-person death party.
How many get covid? How many they pass it to? The cost of treating these people. And, of course, how many die? You wanna have a party? Then you're obligated to provide all of this information. |

6. If they do it will be deadly ..
The casino is wrong for doing it and people who attend are just as wrong for going.

7. It would probably violate several privacy laws, but
I would have the California Department of Health collect the identity of everyone entering, and then deny non-residents vaccine or treatment in case infection.
