Budget Committee's top Dem lays out plans to fuck over seniors

Looking ahead to 2014, I see a major debacle for Dems, and that does not make me happy.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-10-04/van-hollen-calls-simpson-bowles-a-framework-for-debt-deal.html

Representative Chris Van Hollen, the House Budget Committee’s top Democrat, predicted the proposal by President Barack Obama’s 2010 deficit panel will be the “framework” for averting the so-called fiscal cliff of spending cuts in January.

The deficit-cutting plan was offered by commission co- chairmen Al Simpson, a Republican former Wyoming senator, and Erskine Bowles, a Democratic former White House chief of staff. It called for $3.8 trillion in spending cuts and $1 trillion in more tax revenue by 2020 through rate increases or eliminating deductions. The commission recommended cuts in Medicare and Social Security benefits.

Van Hollen Says Simpson-Bowles Will Be ‘Framework’ for Debt Deal Joshua Roberts/Bloomberg
Representative Chris Van Hollen said Obama “was exactly right” during the Denver debate when he said Romney had previously said he would reject a deficit-cutting plan even if it included $10 in spending cuts for every $1 in higher taxes.

It might look a whole lot different than what is there now. The new congress will be the ones dealing with the problem..not the old one.

When I heard our President say that 54-55 yr olds need to pay attention, my ears perked up.
I and every one else my age will get the shaft, it doesnt matter that I started paying in at 14 years old (thats 41 years,so far).
41 years of taking my money, and now I "have to pay attention"??
Code words for they are going to steal MY MONEY.
I paid it in, no one is giving me a damned thing.

5. Axelrod on Fox News really seemed to infer that it would be decided in "quiet rooms."

I am afraid we are about to get "tweaked". It is time for all of us "tweakees" to get off our asses and to scream.. And we'd better not wait until after election day.

How do we best mess up the "grand bargain"???

This is not the time, he said. “We’re not going to have that discussion right now.”--Obviously Axelrod doesn't want the President's supporters getting too excited right now...or pushing for details...

and forcing the media and the politicians to talk about this historic assault on a safety net that was designed and promised to be wholly independent of the budget. And neither of the candidates should appear anywhere without being confronted on this. Democrats need to be challenged on their claims of protecting the 99 percent, not attacking them.

Protests at the White House, Congress, and media outlets would help immensely.

and evidence that we no longer have representative government, but representatives of the oligarchy.

Every poll shows that Americans across party lines want SS benefits protected.

We need protests at the White House, Congress, and every media organization that is failing to demand clarity on the details, failing to convey the significance of this impending historic theft, and failing to confront politicians on their rhetoric of defending the 99 percent. We need to point out that this is being perpetrated WITHOUT OUR CONSENT.

We need to raise hell. We need to stop this.

of every politician, now and in the future, that is against seniors.

We have to send that list of names to everyone, every day, all of the time.

We have to get angry and we have to get off of our butts.

the Party Faithful assured us, over and over again, that Obama was not going to touch Social Security. Could they be wrong?

As soon as they announced Simpson/Bowles would be heading the commission I knew we were toast.
