NBC: [Chicago] Suburban Hospital Temporarily Pauses Vaccinations 'Out of Abundance of Caution' Follo
https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/suburban-hospital-suspends-covid-19-vaccinations-after-adverse-reactions/2398756/
A suburban hospital temporarily suspended coronavirus vaccinations Friday after four team members experienced adverse reactions. Since Thursday, Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville said four people who received the COVID-19 vaccine experienced tingling and elevated heartrate shortly after the injection. "Out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily pausing vaccinations at Condell, which will allow us time to better understand what may have caused these reactions," the health center said in a statement. Advocate Aurora Health reminded that the four people who experienced the adverse reactions account for fewer than 0.15% of the approximately 3,000 individuals who have so far received vaccinations throughout their health system. A bit more at link. 3 of the 4 are home recuperating & the other person is "receiving treatment."

3. Guessing Pfizer's
I don't think Moderna has shipped yet.
![]() It is a very small percentage, but it is not small if you are affected. ![]() |

5. Odd that this is being reported only at one hospital
There are probably 60-70 hospitals in Chicago and surrounding suburbs, large and small, and it’s only this (presumably small) Libertyville hospital that has reported these reactions. I wonder if they’re doing something wrong. Or maybe it’s just a fluke.
No other hospital so far, and there are some huge ones (such as Northwestern Memorial, Rush, University of Chicago), has reported this. |

7. It is odd!
I've not seen any other reports of reactions either. Maybe they didn't handle it properly?

6. Libertyville's a bit of a hike
Closer to Kenosha than Chicago, truth be told.

9. When you think about it
“Tingling and elevated heart rate” could in some circumstances be attributed to anxiety...not sure how much is adverse reaction and how much might be that.

10. True!
One vax recipient said to be getting "treatment," although not specific as to what type of treatment.
![]() But for all the hospitals nationwide busy vaxing staff, this is great news, imo, thpapt only 1 facility had these few issues! ![]() |

11. The one getting "treatment" apparently had an anaphylactic reaction
And was treated and monitored overnight and then discharged, the other three were “treated” and sent home in good condition. No further details about the three that I could find
