Are you shocked at the existence of a massive Russian cyber attack in Dec 2020?

I’m not.
From October 2016 onward, I’ve assumed that the keys to the kingdom would end up in the hands of the Russians.

He was put there to destroy the power of the U.S.
Setting the exact method aside, a different president would have been listening to the experts and taking countermeasures.

I also think it’s inevitable that the economy will be crashed by the end of January and highly likely that major infrastructure (energy grid, perhaps) will be attacked.

2. Can I clutch my pearls while I ponder this?

Hell, we all knew this was coming. We had just thought it would happen against our voting systems. So while we all focused on that, Vlad sent his boys to play elsewhere in our networks.

6. Leon Panetta warned about this..

...but, unfortunately, hewas a Democrat who worked for Bill Clinton, so Republican national security functionaries who followed him in office ignored the warning. This was back in 2012, mind you. At the time Republicans made fun of his warning, citing tinfoil hat defenses as the proper response. Even Wired magazine made fun of the warning, claiming that the few specifics he talked about as illustrations, were too minor to warrant such “heated rhetoric”.

Here’s what he said, though, “if a crippling cyber attack were launched against our nation, the American people must be protected. And if the Commander-in-Chief orders a response, the Defense Department must be ready to act."

There were crippling cyber attacks against th nation that left us with Donald Trump as President. But since the attacks helped him, Trump didn’t act. He let Putin off the hook and signaled that Russia could just go ahead with more cyber attacks.

The best defense is a good offense, military planners from Lao Tzu, to Napoleon, to Patton, to yeah, Panetta, have argued. Trump either didn’t get the memo, or he had another agenda.

Stupid isn’t a defense. Trump, who overseas a nearly $700 BILLION dollar budget, is responsible for the latest cyber defense debacle.

...off the hook. Obama knew about the attack and told McConnell. McConnell told Obama not to bring it up before the election and OBAMA DID WHAT HE SAID! Looking back, that’s a terrible decision

10. I think Obama told more than McConnell

He had all of the intelligence chiefs brief many members of Congress, not just McConnell
He was president but ultimately just one person
It’s a common trap to blame the one democratic leader for “not being perfect” just because a couple hundred corrupt and cowardly republicans cared about money or power, instead of the country
If this was a math class, it would be like telling the kid who got a 97 he was responsible for bringing the average down in a class full of 60s. If he had gotten those 3 points right it would have made the situation so much better

Why didn’t he turn into Superman?
Do you think telling the American public would have made a difference? I don’t. American public has proven their poor judgment.
