I bought some lysol and the smell is so strong and it does contain carcinogens.

There are also alcohol wipes that disinfects.

Also, hydrogen peroxide kills the virus you just have to let it dry for 10 minutes so that is annoying.

That, and water are the ingredients in rubbing alcohol.
I dilute it down to about 70% and then use it to disinfect stuff, either on a paper towel, or in a spray bottle.
I got it in March, and don't remember the price, but it's a lot cheaper in the long run.

I use them for groceries. I keep a bottle of 70% rubbing alcohol handy to rewet them with. That way, I can disinfect several bags of groceries with one wipe.

I use Lysol spray for things like mail or nonfood items too difficult to wipe down, and I use Clorox Wipes and Lysol Wipes for cleaning and disinfecting household surfaces. I've found that alcohol will discolor some metal finishes, but the Clorox Wipes won't, so I prefer them.

And yes, I also buy Lysol spray and wipes, and Clorox wipes from Amazon Fresh. They limit quantities, but usually have at least one kind in stock.

I think they are not someplace most people think to check for PPE supplies.

I know what you mean! Back in early March when we were first being told of the imperative to disinfect, I was tasked with bringing in something for the room in which we have meetings. I remember standing there, looking at all the options and scents, not sure which one to choose, finally just picked one and got chuckles when I brought it in. Shortly after that, the shelves - and entire store aisles - were completely bare, and I would have been grateful to have found anything - wish I'd picked up more than just one.

It's 95% alcohol and has no smell. It also doesn't dry out my hands.

My hands would be a disaster without them!

Now I watch a lot of cricket but what hit me was that the main sponsor painted on the field was Dettol -that's the US Lysol. That was a first. I did laugh and say 2020 is different

First time in months I've been able to get a spray disinfectant. I had a bottle of concentrated Lysol and made a solution in my own spray bottle, just to spray groceries. Really glad to have back-up

I am expecting a delivery from Aldi's in a little while. Excitement! lol

How much it really helps at home???? But at the office, it is like a security blanket.

I am just using the last of an off-brand spray can I bought before Covid-19 hit. Glad to have it handy and know I won't run out.

My kids are scared to death I'll get sick, so I not only stay home, I make sure I wipe things off, just not every 5 seconds. I feel treasured, but trapped. I'm glad some of the neighbors are checking in, supporting each other, feels good to know there is someone close and willing to offer to pick up.

It had a very strong scent to it. We had a dear friend of ours daughter stop in on her way home from college in Florida, she needed a place to get off the road and rest on her way to Massachusetts. When she left, I think I sprayed a whole can. I don’t know what I think I was doing, but I felt better doing it. Our house smelled for days.

It's very easy, and very effective if you are a microbe. Very, very safe for humans and pets.
I pulled the plug several months ago and purchased one. There are options you could look for too. Try googling "hypochlorous acid" or "force of nature" if you want to go down the rabbit hole.

Very interesting though. I did some work for a synthetic Blood company years ago. It was really interesting but unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, it did not get FDA approval.

Of course you can find a user group on facebook. It's strait forward making it and quite safe. Just need distilled water, salt, and vinegar then run it through a electrolysis process. Takes about 7 minutes in my small countertop machine.

"electrolized water and salt" is just the same as diluting regular bleach in (more) water. the technology has been used to chlorinate swimming pools for decades. it is convenient for large bodies of water, but a $5 jug of plain bleach is way cheaper than the $50 starter kit that makes less than 1 gallon of very dilute bleach.
