IF Trump sold pardons, Pelosi should absolutely push articles of impeachment...

Fast track that shit, get it to the Senate and hold them account: force them to remove Trump from office and then ban him from ever holding the office ever again.

This kills two birds with one stone: it stops his complete corruption, and the expected corruption we're likely to witness over the next 50 days, and kills any hope of him ever running again.

Per the Constitution:

"Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States."

2. If selling pardons isn't impeachable, I'm not sure what is.

At some point you have to draw the line, and forever barring him from holding office again is more than appropriate.

6. That's assuming the senate votes exist to convict.

3. Yeah, like 20 Republican senators are going to suddenly do the right thing.

Of course you're right, but if republicans were ever going to do the right thing, Donnie would have been gone long ago.

I certainly like the idea of making Donnie the first president to be impeached twice, he more than deserves it. But the republicans in the senate *still* won't convict him.

It's not as ambiguous as other events. This is straight up criminal, cut and dried. The only rationale I could ever see on their end is that they don't want to go through the whole process knowing he will be out of office in 50 days. I do not see these Republicans finding a way to defend this level of criminality. There is no defense of it. At least, even if you disagreed with their defense of Trump during the first impeachment, there was enough logic, even if it was blatantly partisan, to make it sound better than it was.

if Trump's DOJ caught him trying to sell pardons, you can't defend that. Of course, that's if it ties back directly to Trump. It's possible he's just enough insulated from this to not be held accountable.

9. They live in a deluded universe. They will simply deny the facts.

Whoever, whatever, it was a witch hunt, partisan rogue investigation, someone was having an affair, someone somewhere was a democrat, etc.

They will simply not acknowledge what a crook he is.

10. Agreed if we were talking about something muddled like with the last impeachment,

But there is no dismissing it if this links back to Trump. They would either be forced to admit he did wrong, and state they don't care he broke the law or accept the reality. There is no middle here no matter how awful the Republicans are. There are two options if this links back to Trump. This is the reality.

The only out they get is if it wasn't Trump directly and someone below him, like, say, Kushner, where they could claim plausible deniability. But if Barr comes out and states Trump openly solicited money for a pardon, the GOP won't be able to dismiss it at all.

And when we point out that Biden won the election - that's when Mitch & Co. will smile deviously and say, "no, he did not. Trump won".

13. Can impeachment be done after Trump is gone to prevent him from running again?

If not, it's a waste of time with Mitch McConnell still in place.
