Mondale won the first debate in 84

No really, he did. Reagan was halting, incoherent, and looked old and tired. Mondale turned Reagan's best line (Here you go again) against him with a devastating reminder of the last time he had used it. Reagan went on to have a good second debate and win the election in a 49 state landslide. The fact is Romney, unless fact checkers nail him for all his lies, will be judged to have won this debate. I think Obama will still win.

Obama closed well which also helped. But the fact is Romney did well, Obama didn't. Now I will say that Romney was similar to Gore in 2000 where if the press decides to go after his demeanor while Obama was speaking and his lies then we could see the victory taken from him. Will the press do this? I haven't a clue.
