Good always loses....

Good has to play fair, evil does not.

This is a quote from, of all places, a new ABC show called once Upon a Time.

It is about a town that populated by fairy tale characters who were cursed to live in the real world and not know about their former manifestation.

But the quote made me think about the real world and why democrats always seem to be on the short stick when it comes to politics.

We have an overall principal to try to do the best for the least among us, to strive for granting rights to all and to promote justice no matter who is involved.

The Republicans, well they seem hell bent on being elected in order to help their patrons.

That is all that they care about. They will say anything and do anything to be elected and then, well, all we have to do is look at what happened when George Bush was in charge.

Do not get me wrong, I am certainly not some naive Pollyanna. I know that there are a whole lot of Democrats who behave like Republicans and the other way except that it is getting harder and harder to find these days.

Evil does not play fair. Evil stacks the deck. Evil cuts corners. Evil does whatever it takes.

If you are looking for proof, why do so many republicans hide behind the cloak of inclusion by painting all politics as corrupt. That way, their politicians are excused from bad behavior.

It strikes me as odd that doing good is so much harder than doing evil...

But maybe that's why we say good is its own reward, since you sure as hell won't get any other.

4. Yep, much as I've always thought too. Democrats IMO for the most part

try to play a fair game, but the nature of the republicans is to lie, steal and cheat to win at any cost. The democrats have a sense of fairness, but the republicans see that as a weakness to exploit.

I'm betting that OWS is one of them. The Constitution. Gandhi's nonviolent protests. Martin Luther King Jr's marches.

I think The Steel Trap summed it up well. Where a bank manager sees an opportunity to walk away with a million dollars. The perfect crime. But once he takes the money and his wife discovers that he stole it, the bottom drops out. It looked so good on paper. But the reality is that she knows no good will come from having taken that cash.

I think there are absolutes. And I don't think anyone works around them. In a way this is why I am not overly concerned whether or not George Bush faces the Hague. He faces it every day. Waht of the million dead Iraqi's, one asks. I just don't know. But I do know that there is only one way. Force isn't the way. Force only appears to work. But it leaves it's marks. It's an empty success.

11. There are an awful lot of good people that tried to do something and were

seriously harmed, imprisoned, and worse. Unless there is an uprising and we accept that some will be peppersprayed, some tased perhaps to death, and all the likely and possible outcomes of group uprising, the individual just doesn't have much of a chance to do anything but getting harmed, with so few exceptions and those exceptions after a number of other individuals tried to but whose alerts were silenced.

It's such a cute saying, but it's a really deep topic; when, where, and how to do something. how much should one be willing to pay for doing something?

8. No, Good does not always lose.

Good is just much harder, as one commenter noted.

"Evil triumphs when good people do nothing," to paraphrase the famous quote, and this is the more difficult truth.

Good must be more consistent, more disciplined, and more honest. And Good creates boundries and standards, while Evil disrupts and degrades without self-imposed rules of any kind.

Yes, Good is the harder path; this is why being Good is not a sign of weakness, as Evil would like to believe, and would like you to believe, but rather a sign of great strength.

Evil's victories are short-lived and immediately gratifying, while Good is a steady and long process, with few immediatley visible rewards.

So take heart! And, perhaps, think about these quotes, as I do, when the load becomes heavy:

10. I actually love that show. It's been quite fun and reasonably presented for

Fairy Tales.

I watched one of Grimm on the other channel but it's just too much a cop drama with different goodies and baddies.

This one is unique and well spun.

12. It may be good often loses, but evil never wins.

Good things are those which you do unto others wishing to have done unto you. Evil are those things done unto others which you wouldn't want done unto you.

Therefore good can lose - but evil can never win, because the Tao of nature is that the winner propagates, the winner shapes the world in his own image. So the consequence of acting like an asshole to win will be finding yourself surrounded by all the assholes replicating your successful strategy, the hell from propagating evil is living in a world where evil propagates, and is therefore inevitably done unto you. Its very simple really.

In fact the defining trait of good is that it alone CAN win, it can eventually lead you to being in the sort of world you'd want to live in, a world where goodness has propagated and filled the world, and the world remade in your image is a pleasure to experience.
