Sanders mum on spot in Biden Cabinet

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Sunday was noncommittal on whether he would accept an appointment within President-elect Joe Biden’s administration.

“I talk to the Biden administration. I want to do my best in whatever capacity, as a senator or in the administration, to protect the working families of this country,” Sanders told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”

Sanders earlier suggested he might be willing to serve as Labor secretary in a Biden administration.
"If I had a portfolio that allowed me to stand up and fight for working families, would I do it? Yes, I would,” he said last week.

4. If he joins the cabinet, he'll be replaced by a Republican in the Senate.

Wouldn't the Republican governor get to pick a replacement? Or would they have a special election?

7. Ok, so maybe he'd pick a reasonable, moderate, Republican.

It's still a seat. Still one more tool for McConnell.

9. Also, he has suggested an independent but an independent could caucus with the GOP so again no.

Vermont wishes it were not broke, and out of room on how much more it can bond. Phil was a longtime Leiutenant Governor,(part time job in Vt.) partner in a construction company, and a winning stock car racer (most recently Memorial Day 2019).

His Democratic opponent is an organic farmer who is open to discussion about "vaccine choice". Vermonters I know refer to those folk as "crunchy granolas".

Seniority and committee assignments are worth too much in the Senate, and Bernie knows he can kick ass there. Joe can hand off an issue like the "living wage" to Bernie, like bringing in the "clutch man" in drag racing. Bernie has also long been an advocate of "postal banking", and he can lend a voice on that.
