New Mexicans ordered to shelter-in-place, non-essential businesses must close for 2 weeks
As New Mexico has seen more than 1,000 new cases each day for several weeks, the governor has issued a new public health order to “reset in the battle against COVID-19.” The latest order goes into effect Nov. 16 and resumes some of the state’s most heightened protections.
Why two weeks? According to the press conference Friday health experts confirm that two weeks of dramatically limited activity and travel can “effectively blunt the spread of the virus”. So what happens next? After November 30th the state will implement a three-tier-county-by-county system using county-level public health data to establish re-opening benchmarks for that specific county. This will break the risk assessment of that county into three categories therefor allowing these counties flexibility to engage in more in-person and businesses activities with Department of Health approval. So, what does this mean for you? All nonessential businesses must cease in-person activities. https://www.koat.com/article/as-cases-spike-major-changes-coming-for-new-mexicans/34671905#

2. N.M. GOP is pissed
They say the governor is assuming dictatorial powers and stepping on their constitutional rights to assemble.
Say it's an attack on churches and religion, and it's to destroy the economy. "My body, my choice !" (except when it comes to a woman's right to determine her reproductive choices, of course) Local TV news is showing lines outside stores as people flock to stock up. |

3. Essentially the same order here in Oregon
I picked up my curbside order this morning from the grocery store. I created next weeks order already to reserve my day and time. I’m generally only buying fresh produce and milk but I am throwing a few holiday things in there too.
I wouldn’t want to go to a store tonight. I imagine a lot of people are stocking up right now. |
