After Facebook, Twitter and YouTube imposed new posting rules to limit the spread of misinformation during the 2020 election, many users turned to smaller social media platforms to share their thoughts.
One such platform, Parler, grew quickly over the summer and continued that growth spurt over the last few weeks. As of Monday morning, it sits atop Apple's iTunes charts as the most downloaded free app.
So what is Parler?
App called the 'Twitter for conservatives'
Look for friends on this app that's been promoted by President Donald Trump, and you'll see many familiar Republican names, including former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani; Sens. Rand Paul and Ted Cruz; and Rep. Devin Nunes. There's also the right-wing pundit Stefan Molyneux, who was booted off YouTube over the summer, and former congressional candidate Laura Loomer, who was banned from Facebook and Twitter.

(5,611 posts)(Parler = to speak in French yet they insist it should be pronounced as parlor because they think that sounds like a salon-type of meeting space as in enlightenment era France...yes I am serious)
And on top of that nobody really uses it it was a bad idea poorly executed

(43,164 posts)It's bound to fail as a competitor to Twitter because only right-wingers will use it, they will just agree with each other, and there will be no one to stoke any good back and forth debate with.
To be fair, DU as a social media platform would probably fail for the same reason, but we're a political message board, so...

Again. So I troll him a bit in Instagram.
Looked him up. I found his posts there. Im not saying he is the standard for posters there, but he is certainly one of them. Believes Trump will win, posts the cult white suprematist figure Steve Molyneux, and is stupid as fuck.
Anecdotal, but going over there confirmed that the best the Right has to offer isnt over there, or, rather if thats it, holy shit so much weird crap.
