After watching 60 Minutes piece on COVID-19 vaccine...
I’m waiting for Trumpanzees next year to say, “You can thank President Trump for that!”
Yeah, like he was Marie Curie in the lab.

2. My concern
is that there are so many different agencies and private companies involved just to get the first doses to medical personnel, that major screwups can and are likely to occur. Will this nightmare ever end?

3. Mote reason for Biden and scientists to get in there and assess what's really going on.

5. That was a vague puff piece.
Note that neither safety NOR efficacy of whatever vaccine the general seems to be claiming is almost ready to go is not discussed.
I'm old enough to recall the swine flu fiasco. I also recall the mass immunizations for polio. What's almost completely unknown about the polio vaccine is that one of the licensed manufacturers screwed up, got live virus into the vaccine, and a bunch of kids got the disease. Vaccinations were temporarily halted, then resumed. But it could have been a lot worse. And so the possibility of a total fuck-up could easily happen here. I want to read in detail, the results of the first clinical trials. And I want those trials given a minimum of three months after they end, to see just how good the vaccine is. One of the very worst things that could happen with a Covid19 vaccine is that it harms people. The next worse is that it simply isn't very effective, under 50%. There's also a huge issue with the need for two doses. Which reminds me, I need to go get my second shingles shot soon. |
